Huh? Nipmuc is playing Gonk not GD. Two time defending Div 1 and 2 champs battle it out. GD is not in the conversation yet. And the Gonk keeper is hands down better than anyone else by the way, carried MPS Bulldogs to the state final against FC Blazers and was ahead on PK's after making a save until a teamate missed the goal entirely eventually losing on the 7th kicker. Let me know when GD finally beats Nipmuc then you can talk about them.

You mean the MPS players who were in the state title at U16 and U17 this year? Yeah they must be bad.

Oh Lord, don't bring up the U16B MPS team - enough has been written about it choking over the last three years. Against Bolts first, then NEFC, this year losing to the lowly Blazers. Not a shining resume for those MPSers, sorry. And they've had the same experience at Algonquin. But a couple of the Gonk players are definitely very good. Especially the ex-Puma kid who's moved on to DAP this year. And leadership is strong this year. Good luck to all teams. Please, Algonquin, don't try to pad stats against JV level teams....

Sorry, MK, didn't mean to hurt your feelings. You're a good keeper.

Yes MK definitely wrote that. Are you kidding me? What do you have against the kid other than the fact he's a great keeper. Get outta here

Ummm...the very descriptive post with the lowdown on an exciting game appeared to have been written by someone close to MK. So if not him, maybe a relative or friend???? Anyway, he's a good keeper. Probably not the best, but still good.

Gonk beats worcester north 2-1. Neither team played as well as I've seen them before. Chippy game to be honest. Gonk never looked in danger of losing though and took a 2-0 lead before North scored with about 8 minutes to go to make it interesting. Gonk basically controlled the last 8 with no real threats. Teams could meat again in playoffs.

Wow, that was a close score. Didn't Gonk destroy them last year? Yes, not surprised to hear game wasn't quality. I've seen the same thing in a lot of HS games with supposedly superior teams playing.

It was 4-2 last year in the tournament.

One thing is for sure. All the older folks that post in here and perhaps have some hazy memory of soccer glory (or not) couldn't hold the jocks of the kids playing today. Even the high school teams of 15 years ago wouldn't come close.

Sorry but that's just the way it is. For years, American soccer was just a bunch of "hammer throwers", athletes playing soccer.

The top tier teams you so readily dis in here are playing the real game. Possession. Building it into the offensive third and not just praying for through balls or chips over the top.

I'm really impressed with the club trained kids of the hoity toity towns AND the West African soccer machine that is North and South.

                          C'mon. Enjoy the game.

Someone familiar w/hs soccer, I guess. Trust me, there's still plenty of boot it over the top to the guy at the front, or long throws to the guy at the front, plenty of "hammer throwers", as you call them, and less of the beautiful game involved. Maybe better than 15 years ago. Wasn't around watching then, so I wouldn't know.

I do know Gonk's State Champs two years running looked better than this team, but so did their competition. Let's hope Central Mass is better this year than it was last year!
