No club ever has been more overhyped than NEFC. Let's remember. NEFC was conceived out of a merger with Puma. Yeah, you heard that right. Puma. Enough said. We're talking about the Trivalley Eagles joining up with Puma.

I love all of the social moralizing that comes with these sorts of threads. I wasn't at the game but know NB. He's a good egg. Might he have lost his cool? Sounds like it, but then I haven't read the whole thread and digested the incident. One thing that I know is that most coaches do lose their cool a few times in their coaching career... happens to all of us. Is it right? No. Are we proud of it? Typically not. That said we all understand that it happens and hopefully we all learn from our mistakes. Before many of you go off bashing the guy though you might want to consider that not all arguing with referees is necessarily bad. Take an example like the U13 Stars coach from this weekend down at PDA. As I understand it he got heaved for objecting too hard after one of his girls got pulled down by her pony tail and another got a concussion. I know as a player and parent I always appreciated when one of my coaches went to "bat" for me or my kid with an official. We all know that somewhere someone is ripping the Stars coach for his behavior yet in my book in a lot of ways he did the right thing. Just trying to point out that this sort of topic is not always as black and white as some others might like to paint it.

How about if you are so worried about your team's safety you just pull the kids from the field. I've done it and that is truly protection for the kids. Not someone acting like a nut. Yes, as a coach I have yelled out at the refs...I've had my share days where I just don't understand what they are doing. Guess what... after year 2 or 3 of coaching you sort of figure out how to get your point across at the ref without getting tossed.

We now know everybody is holier than thou. I have a question for any referees out there. Is there any way for coaches to give feedback on referees and is there any recourse for anybody who consistantly has coaches complaing about them. At any level? The US world cup match from last summer is a good example.

I know in the Middlesex League for town soccer, coaches have an opportunity to evaluate the ref when they post the score. Not sure if that's true for Maple or NEP. Saw some terrible refing last weekend at a town game. Maybe worst ever. It's demoralizing for the kids and I was proud our coach kept his cool. (He was fuming privately I later found out).

Back to diversion, blame the ref!!! NEFC parents need to move on and stop engaging this discussion, nothing good will come from it. Your club has a problem with its over aggressive coaches that needs to be fixed from within. Bring your discussion to them and your doc, not here. Hasn't your club received enough black eyes this season!

Give me a break here. Every club has good coaches and bad ones. Every club has had coaches and or players that have lost control. Soccer is a physical sport and things happen and emotions happen. Parents lose control as well. This is going to happen in any league and yes that includes NEP. Just becasue something is written down as a rule doesn't mean it won't happen. Coaches and players learn from their mistakes. Ref's make bad calls in every game, but they also make great calls as well.

If you don't like one club just shut up about it and make sure your kid plays in a different club. NEFC has it's positives and certainly has its negatives. I challenge anyone who can find a club in the US that doesn't have its postives and negatives. All clubs have this. All clubs have great coaches and some not so great ones. Put your kid in the club that suits his/her ability and one they are comfortable in. JUST SHUT UP and stop bashing clubs and coaches. Nobody is holding a gun to your head forcing you to stay in a club. Don't like it don't stay/play/pay......MOVE ON ALREADY.

Yes, there is a shortage of refs because they have to listen to Mom and Dad who have no clue about the sport.

NB is a good guy and good coach. He called the ref an idiot and rightly got tossed! No one is saying that is ok! He will pay with a 3 ban. This does not make him a bad person/coach/NEFC a bad club. Hopefully this coach can learn from his obvious mistake!

the whole thing that does crack me up (or should i say is disturbing) is how all of these people do come on here bashing him and them being on their high horse thinking they all behave.............like I said, U11 soccer, 5th graders.
