I recommend you speak with your child's coach in Georgia. He or she will know their ability and the right avenue for your family to take in finding a club and team that is a good fit. No disrespect meant, but coming on the Internet to get advice will lead you down the wrong path. Use the Internet to visit the websites and obtain contact information for clubs in the area/distance you are willing to travel. Talk with the DOCs and coaches, go to a practice, meet the players, you talk with the parents, have your child talk with potential teammates, and then narrow your choice down with an accurate as possible informed decision.

Scorpion premier lost to RI RAYS in PKs in Chelsea division finals. Not sure if that is KD team though . You should look at NEFC. Alot of teams at that age group.

Generally good advice except I differ with you on the notion that advice over the internet is bad and will lead you down the wrong path. Advice is just an opinion. My experience has been that you get in the most trouble when you make decisions strictly based upon other people's opinions. I look at other people's opinions like data input that I use to evaluate choices. When you really get down to it one person's opinions are not any more valid than another. The issue basically comes down to how much weight you give the various opinions. The only difficulty with using this site to make a decision is the anonymity of most of the posters. You don't necessarily know where they are coming from and the biases they have so you really can't give it much weight. Honestly though, you are not going to get all that much more factual information calling a coach or talking to one of the families or the DOC. Typically you are still going to get just as much biased hype from them, you just have a better understanding where they are coming from. At the end of the day you still end up weighing whether you believe the information.

Where there's smoke there's usually fire. If the web pages are smoldering about a team you are considering, I'd suggest you weigh this heavily enough not to get burned.

It depends on where you will be living as well. Keep in mind that the incremental "improvement" in one team over another may not be worth adding an extra hour to an hour and a half of driving time per practice.

Sure, so going by what is consistently smoldered about on these pages, stay away from NEFC, Stars, Scorps, MPS, WU, Pioneers and Aztecs and go to a mom and pop....

Naw, just take what is written with a grain of salt. You shouldn't ignore it either.

Not necessarily. The one or two yahoos tearing down BTDT, Bolts, Stars, etc are easy enough to spot. But if there is a consistent drumbeat, it pays to heed it. My child and a friend joined a team a few years back that seemed a great fit. It wasn't and they lasted one year. A year later, I discovered the previous version of this website, and the warnings and complaints were spot on. As BTDT pointed out, give the discussion some weight. Some of us come on and try to share our experiences honestly and openly.

Every ounce of energy is wasted bashing the big 4 or 5 clubs. Personally, I'd prefer the mom and pop club anyday. Even though I don't recall it ever coming up in conversation, I believe loyalty and dedication to a child should be high on a parents priority list. If you're not top of the top, the big clubs will chew you up and spit you out.

Checked Scorp bowl results....no score for U13 G final game between Scorps premier and Rays... I wonder why?

I can echo many of these sentiments. That said, I have done a couple of tours of duty with small clubs and can tell you that going that route does not necessarily lead to Shangri La either. All clubs have their strengths and weaknesses and with small clubs you do tend to compromise on things because they typically have much more limited resources than the larger clubs. I think the advice should be to find the right fit for your kid and use objective criteria to weigh the clubs that fits your particular family and child. The worst possible thing I think you could do is base this sort of decision essentially on superfulous things like club name.

                          There's always the B and C teams.

The Scoprions KD lost in PK's. They RI Rays tied the Scorpions on an own goal with no time left. Was a very good game to watch.

Depends on where you are moving to in MA. If you are on the South Shore I would recommend trying the Scoprions for a few weeks and see how you like it. Talk to the parents, coaches and especially have your daughter talk to the players. Most clubs allow you a 3 or 4 weeks to see if it is a good fit.

All the clubs no matter what you hear on this site mean well. I will not say anything bad about another club but would recommend that you find a club that fits you and your daughter.

BTDT - You wanted substance to my prediction. This is it in a nut shell.

Aztecs – They have played the most consistent soccer over the last year. They have a dominant forward that is able to finish. They have an average keeper that makes the simple saves. Their backs play well together and connected. Their midfielders play well together also and keep shape when attacking. They lack speed in the midfield but does not hurt them do to playing well together. They maintain a small roster to minimize the bench drop off during a game. They are very well coached and this reflects their play on the field.

Scorpions FM – They are the most athletic and skilled team in the league. They have the ability to score every time they get into the offensive third from multiple positions. They have dominant forwards and midfielders due to their skill and athleticism. They carried to many players in the fall (18 I think) and have too many alpha players. They do not play as a team. They have always had a subpar keeper or keeper by committee that tends to let in soft goals. They have decreased their roster for different reasons and seem to be connecting with their coach more and more. They are also very well coached.

NEFC H – They have the best keeper at this age currently. They also have a dominant forward. The center backs play very well together but the outside backs let them down. They also do not have as strong of a midfield as Aztecs and Scorpions. You can have the best keeper, backs and forwards but if you cannot dominate the midfield you will have problems. They do play very well together and connect a lot of passes, but passes do not win games. They are very well coached also.

Stars – They are very big and the 2nd most athletic team. They have very strong center backs, very good center midfielder and a very good forward. They are weak on the outsides and do not have the depth on the bench like the other 3 clubs. They play a very direct style of soccer and do not have much creativity. They are very well coached.
Pioneers – The have a dominant forward, a great center back that controls the field and an above average keeper. They move the ball well but go to the well to often. Also the coach directs them to much from the sideline. They have no creativity and limited once they make substitutions. The coach is not that good and intimidates the referees, especially in Ludlow.

Scorpions KD – They are very skilled and have a few athletic players also. They do not have a top players like the other clubs ahead of them. They are limited in scoring but seem to have found the goal this past weekend. They play very well in the back and midfield. Their biggest strength is their ability to play as a team and unselfish (role players that give 110%). They move the ball very well but as stated before lack the ability to score. I will always root for this team quitely even when my daughter’s team plays against them this spring. They are very well coached also and the kids work hard for KD.

Western United – They have very good coach but seem to have lost their way as a team. They played not up to expectations this past fall and not sure what they will do this spring. They have some very good players but seem to be missing something this past year. I will hold off on more analysis until I see them play again.

NEFC M – I am getting my information on this tem second hand from a friend of mine that played them several times last year and in the fall. They are not as skilled as the rest of the teams in this division. They have a couple of good players. They have a good forward and center back. They play kick and run. They play a very direct style of soccer. The work hard like Scorpions KD team but are not as skilled. I know they beat them in the CFC tournament but that is just one game. PM is a good coach but not as good as the top 4 coaches on this list.

I think you're being unfair to PM. I've seen that team play as U12's and it's a miracle that PM has this team in the top division. They just aren't very talented. PM is as strong as those other coaches, all of whom had far better talent to start out with and large pools of players to draw from.

I am literally stunned that they are in the top division, and don't expect them to be there long.
