              All players in Massachusetts suck.

From what I read, the parents who have a kid playing in an Academy team are firm believers in the Academy system. This is no different than what has gone on in this forum for years. Those parents on the board with kids on teams like teh Bolts, Stars, Scorpions, and MPS have been doing it for years. And those parents that do not have kids on those clubs defend and rationalize their reasons for it.

While it's clear that you all hold a low opinion of a player who happens to live and/or play in this state, no one has attempted to explain why they don't enjoy the success that kids from other states do.

Here's how I see the problem:
First of all, take a step back and look at the posts. Your are parents for God's sake. Listen to yourselves. Arguing like immature children hoping to get in the last word and desperately clinging to the only thing yoy know how to measure: Victory. You only want to win an argument. Just like you only want your kid to win a soccer game, or have him bee sen/percieved as a winner in the race for the right path to college. You're supposed to set the examples. Instead, you're pathetic.

I have daughters, so I can speak to the validity of whether the Academy team is the right path to college or not, whether now or in the future. I have a read fair bit of material about it, and the idea behind it is solid. It's young, and I don't see it going away. What I don't understand is that it seems that the same people here who are quick to say that Massachusetts players aren't any good are the ones trashing the Academy program and the teams in it. If you believe our players aren't any good, why aren't you more supportive of a program that has been designed to gather much of the area's best players, to have them focus on training, and to move away from this system that only stresses winning?
              1) So did you win the argument?
              2) How does having daughters make you an expert on the Academy (unbiased but no experience)?
              3) My son played Maple, R1PL, and DAP, and is a D1 College soccer player, but I have no comments on this stuff really. I would just like to see where kids are going this year, consistent with the thread.

I think the guy meant to say "I have daughters, so I can't speak to the validity of whether the Academy team is the right path to college or not".

But then he offers his own commentary:

Yeah, so? I've read about it too. In theory the DAP is designed to produce better US players, but it's still young so we don't know whether we can call it a success just yet. Are you going to argue with that? And what's wrong with chastizing people who criticize Mass players and yet don't want to support a program that is designed to develop better players? I mean does won really have to be directly involved with the DAP to make those statements?

The irony is this poster chastizes the parents for arguing DAP or not, then jumps right in with his own argument on a thread talking about Verbal Commits. BTW, your sucking me in too, so I'll sit back now until sometimes relevant to the thread pops up.

He's not arguing. He's throwing out an opinion. You are the one who seems to be looking for an argument. It probably is a good thing to take a deep breath and sit back for a while.

I really do not understand why this debate is still going on the DAP is the future that is where all teams want to be there is no argument that playing MAPLE is better then DAP. Just stop.

well, went to brooks for a year and then started at CCHS as a freshman. So, maybe he had enough credits and could leave CCHS early for the IMG. You tell me!!!!!

Get a clue? I think you might want to pull your head out of that hole in the ground to understand and realize what is going on here.
                              1) Note that the "Pre-DAP" league to which folks have been referring is owned and operated by US Club Soccer (which by the way, also operates ECNL). USCS is the major rival to US Youth Soccer, which delegates to Mass Youth Soccer and operates Region 1, State Cup and the National Championship Series. USCS operates its own State Cups in several other states as it is strong in the mid-Atlantic area and the west. In contrast, DAP is operated by US Soccer itself - and US Soccer declined to extend its program to younger ages or to girls until DAP is more fully realized.

I think you have to look at pre-DAP as part of the ongoing conflict between USYS and USCS for control of commercial club soccer in this country.

                              2) Note that the 2010-11 DAP season will include only one Showcase event (Phoenix), plus playoffs and finals. 2009-10 and 2008-9 provided two (winter and spring) Showcases (Phoenix and Sarasota) as well as playoffs and finals.

I will leave it to you guys to bicker over the implications of this change re: DAP as a recruiting tool, just pointing it out....

US Club has run the id2 program, which has been a rival to US Youth Soccer;s ODP program for several years. It's common knowledge that the two are competitors. US Club administrates a league that allows for teams to play in. What is your point?

It would really be nice if you could provide the full story behind the DAP Showcase schedule changes.

The Showcase in Dallas requires all teams to participate. Not just the ones in the playoffs. This reduces travel expenses (eliminating a trip to FL), and allows the same access to college recruiting, national scouts for everyone.
