Just goes to show how little cache Massachusetts boys soccer has from the D1 College Soccer Coaching Community. In general Mass is pretty much ignored when it comes to D1 Men's soccer for recruits in comparison to D1 Women's side. Don't know why. Could be talent or lack there of. Or could be if little or no $$$ availble on the Men's side for many of the D1 colleges and with numerous D2 and D3 college options available in New England the Mass players are looking more at D2 and D3. Did just see the blurb about CD from LS going to North Carolina--hope it's true--very good player and good kid.

I think what is most refreshing about this kid is he is the epitome of what hard work and determination can do. If you knew him, you would be very impressed. there are a lot of parents out there with kids playing on "elite" teams, and because of that you/they feel entitled. This kid was rejected by the academy teams only 2 years ago, and look what he has accomplished. His internal drive and motivation is what has made the kid successful. Good luck CD. You are a real class act and an example for others who were cut from the "elite" teams.

But he was offered a spot on the Bolts Academy team two years ago, but as a Developmental player. He was obviously not the player he is today if the Revs also did not offer him a spot. Interesting that he chose not to put his head down and work hard in that situation as part of the team.

I'd have a bit more respect if he told the truth.

Attending or playing? There's a big difference and just attending is great as UNC is difficult for out of starers to get in.

Sounds a little iffy. NC hasn't seen him play Nov of his senior year, and will compare him to two internationals. They already have six players lined up with verbal commits. The ACC locks up its big players as juniors mostly. More likely is a trip to George Mason, still a good job for Cole. He's a great soccer talent. GL to him.

He did work hard as part of a team--he played for Stars and ODP. Better to train and play in actual games as part of Stars/ODP than than just train and hope you get the chance (if at all) to play in a handful of competitive DAP games as a Developmental Player. He obviously made the correct choice for him and worked his tail off. Congratulations to him.

Probably would have been added to the DAP roster, especially if that good. Both the Bolts and Revs have done this for good players. And the coaching environment would have been way better at the DAP club, than at some other team trying to win MAPLE and a State Cup.

Aren't we just now entering the Early Decision deadlines? You've got up through March really to find out where all these players are going.

Evidently the coaching he received at Stars/ODP and his hardwork worked out just fine for him as both DAP teams wanted him a year later.

He's a good player, but I would argue that the word "phenom" is not doing the player any favors. Also, this was posted 2 1/2 weeks ago.

15 goals in 14 games, while good, is not heads and shoulders better than the rest of the All States or East Ma All Stars

“He’s in a tough position because a lot of guys in his status have been in the club ranks for three or four years and he only joined the [New England Revolution youth team] last year," Hosford said. "So he got on the radar screen fairly late. He’s perhaps feeling the repercussions of that a little bit, where a lot of his teammates have signed early, and he’s still waiting.”

Wasn't he in ODP for many years, joined the revs in year 2 of their program and only 1 teammate has committed (UNH) In fact, FCGB (4), Oakwood (3) Beachside (4) all have more than the Revs committed.

Bolts and Revs have both failed to pick up kids they should have at tryouts. Some of those kids move on rather than continuing to hound the DAP coaches. Some kids took a year, year and a half of tryout after tryout to get on the roster. Some kids aren't so good at kissing bu**.

And no, my son did not get cut by either team.

signing day is feb 2, no early signing day for soccer. all d1 schools have their top recruits by now, and the last few guys of each class are commited by jan 1. the top recruits for 2011 were signed between jan and june for the most part. there are very few d1 players that commit after jan 1 and most of the scholarship money is gone by then, so these next few weeks are crucial for CD. I also heard George Mason was in the mix, average d1 program. best of luck to him

Why be so cynical? Can't anyone on this forum appreciate things for what they are? I can't wait until most of you egotistical, living vicariously through your children blowhards realize your kid is not as good as you think they are. CD also played HS soccer. Want to denigrate him for that as well?

And, like Cole, the teammate who committed to UNH joined the Revs late. Really makes you wonder...
