Cujo? Hardly. But you might want to consider moving on. You are stuck in 2009.

But no, my hope is they turn out to be better than you. And more creative.

Creative? What could be more tired and lacking in creativity than yet another reference to over-indulgent parents and ending with flatulence. I doubt anyone will mistake you for David Foster Wallace.

For those who want to play in college—there are many playing in D3—only updated previous list from last year—there are many more Mass players playing D3, D2 and still a handful playing D1 from HS Class of 2011.

so 10 out of 15 HS Class of 2011 still playing D1 which is similar to Class of 2010 which had 10 out of 19 still playing D1 (see other thread) at EOY Fall 2012. No matter what Division college soccer you look at the attrition rate of continuing to play in college is high (less than 33% will play all 4 years) which to the HS Class of 2013 and those which follow make sure you choose the college for the college, not just the soccer, because there is a very good chance you won't be playing beyond your sophomore year (let alone all 4 years), and you better be happy with your choice of that college. To the future HS Classes that intend to try to play college soccer next year and beyond---get yourself in the best physical shape of your lives next summer because if you somehow believe you only need to be in the shape you are in to play HS, Club, or DAP in order to play in college, then you will be sorely mistaken, and you may only get one opportunity to play and you better be ready, because if your not, then there won't be a second chance any time soon. Playing time is earned and it is earned very hard in college, and there is always another teammate just waiting to get his shot with your spot, not to mention next years hot shot frosh recruiting class which will follow you each year. The time, energy and committment needed to play college soccer (or any college varsity sport) is enormous and this is true for D1, D2 or D3. Thus, be ready and forewarned. Congratulations to all those who have played college soccer whether it be 1, 2, 3 or 4 years. I hope you are enjoying your college career both on the pitch and off, but especially in the classroom. Best of luck in the future.

OP for all the soccer commits here. My points would be:

                            1) Out of the thousands of MA soccer kids in youth soccer, about 10/year end up playing D1 soccer. That's a very small fraction. Plan accordingly and set your child's targets realistically.

                            2) For those who go, it's a big step up and expect to make a big effort. There are some great MA players in the NR category. Don't underestimate the challenge you will face.

3)In spite of 1 and 2, if that's your dream, go for it. Very few make it, but that in part is what makes it so worthwhile. If you make it, it should be a source of great pride for you. I happen to know a reasonably large number of the kids on the three lists, and they are top quality kids.

Agree. More succinct than other poster, but same message. Your #(3) is spot on. It's about the journey and challenge, not the destination or end result.
