Oh for ****'s sake. I am no academy lover and never thought I would be stepping up to defend them, but don't they have, or have had, a coach associated with the club? Don't you think that seeing a kid week in and week out, at elite tournaments, less than elite scrimmages, and mundane trainings, week in and week out, raises the confidence level of a coach that what they see is what they get?

I have criticized the academy over some things, praised some other things, praised a lot of the players who I have known very well over the years, and criticized the subset of overbearing parents. But I can't sit still and listen to people plumb the depths of stupidity with their comments. Criticize away if you like but make a case that would convince someone with a more developed nervous system than a slug with that your arguments hold water.

And criticizing young people by name as some did with relish earlier in the thread, well that is just the most cowardly, malevolent things to be seen in youth sports. Pat yourself on the back any of you low life's that engage in such behavior.

Don't know the kid in question but congrats and good luck!
The kid idn't being blamed. The clubs and coaches are to be blamed. Imagine how good he might have become with the proper training?

So you only came on here to give a negative opinion of a specific kid who was recruited to a legit big-time D1 school IN ORDER to get to the real root cause of all evil....lack of "proper training"????

Why didn't you instead start a thread about "proper training"? I'm sure we would all be enlightened to find out what "proper training" is.

It is unbelievable how many people think they know something and possess the arrogance to "share," and it is even more unbelievable how many are engulfed by social cluelessness and lack the inhibitory capacity to refrain from calling out specific kids.

Hey, maybe you can do all the college coaches a favor and give a detailed scouting report on every kid ever listed in this thread (and those that haven't been listed).

I didn't give an opinion of a kid at all. I commented on why someone might say whatthey did about him.

It is clear you know as little as those you point the finger at.

Maybe you can do us all a favor and stop the false vitriol. The fact is that no club has been willing or able to take the most talented players in this state and give them the technical training they need to compete at the top level. And yes, I know a little something about that.

Sorry, doesn't make sense. How can you coherently comment about whether something somebody else said makes sense unless you're implicitly agreeing or offering an opinion yourself? If you know nothing about the kid then you can't make the statement you made, at least not intelligently.

And since you say you "know a little something" why aren't you the solution to the horrible training and coaching ills at the very top levels of MA soccer?

Because of parents like you who have no interest in developing players when there are state cups and tournaments to be won. Can't claim a championship when you are just working to develop technique in a proper, non-results oriented atmosphere. The things I can do best aren't wanted by the paying customers here.

You care as little about this as anyone since you continue to harp on about how the the programs most designed to develop the best players aren't any better than those that bash the ball out of bounds or downfield at the slightest sign of pressure. Have I seen this kid play? A few times over the years, and I have heard the "oohs" and "ahs" on the sideline when he clears a ball 60 yards downfield. Impressive to the neophytes perhaps, but not at all to anyone looking to see the development of proper soccer technique, the ability to play in small spaces under pressure, and comfort and composure on the ball. And I'm supposed to be happy for the kid because he got into a prominent D1 school? Sorry. More horrified than impressed.

Oh, so you DID have an opinion. Glad we cleared that up.

My kid hasn't won any state cups and I'm not bothered in the least. And I haven't offered any analyses of the training methods of the top outfits vs those that "bash the ball out of bounds."

I am sorry to hear that you're out of work. It's rough out there.

How many recruits does this make for PC?

The Kilday kid is another great player. Big, strong kid who is as tough as they come. Congratulations.

Is this the only state where parents assume they know more than a coach? No wonder we can't figure out how to develop players.

Does this happen with other professionals who interact with these parents and their children? Do these parents question doctors who are treating their children? What about their school teachers? Piano or musuc instructors? Or is this just a youth soccer thing?

Talked to him yesterday... said he was PGing because he had another year of academy eligibility and did not like his college offers.
