The poster(s) of posts 696, 700, 704, and 705 is shameful. Truly classless way beyond the usual T-S classlessness.

Regarding post 700, you're really reaching on the comparison. There is no analogy. The Williams kid wasn't listed anywhere else either, so how does that matter? And no one alleged that the Providence player was unrecruited. An analogy would be "the Providence player wasn't recruited and will have to earn a roster spot."

And another poster said something akin to "it's no shame to get in based on academics." Are you kidding me? That is the most legit and hardest way to get in!

I don't know this player or the family, but my own kid has played against him over the years, and I am just appalled that there are people out there so socially ignorant.

Welcome to the world of anonymous blogs where the petty, jealous and insecure have their stool to stand on (or in, as the case more often is). Congrats to all the kids and their families, good job!, and best of luck in the days ahead.

It wasn't negative. It was a matter of accuracy. No one is saying he won't do well. No one is saying he doesn't deserve to gain admission to a great school based on academics. What has been said is that he was not recruited to play soccer there and that if he is going to be on the team, he has to win a roster spot at a tryout.

I'm reminded of the line from "A Few Good Men": YOU CAN'T HANDLE THE TRUTH"!
Not Dad..but a friend willing to question negative posters (you call it a "matter of accuracy" so you can get your slimy little digs in) and I think you are making up the "not being recruited" story. Williams was actively recruiting Andover kids.

Doesn't "every college player" at "every level" (D1-D3) have to attend tryouts "every year" to win a roster spot?

Thank you friend, whoever you are. I am the Dad and this is my first and last posting to this blog. I swore that I would not be drawn in, but I cannot help myself. The misinformation and assumptions by posters unfamiliar with many players' situations that I am familiar with throughout this blog are incredible and I am writing this to caution new reader's to put these (this) poster's comments in perspective. I will only speak to my son's situation. To make a public statement that a kid was not recruited when you have no knowledge of the situation is absurd. Let me guess you were at the Williams camp when interest was expressed, you were also at the 7 to 10 school and club games that Coach Russo and/or his assistant attended. You also were a party to the conversations between his Andover Coach and Coach Russo. You were also on the numerous phone conversations between my son and Coach Russo and finally you were there when we as a family met with Coach Russo and my son verbally committed to apply to Williams early decision and he then had to make the awkward call to other interested coaches that he was not going to apply to their school. We are very proud of our son and his decision. We were thrilled with his choice to attend Williams from an academic standpoint and feel lucky that he will have the chance to be coached by Coach Russo. I hope this helps to put all of your comments in perspective and I wish you had the nerve to tell all of the posters who you have made assumptions and comments about who you are, so we can understand the bitterness and ax that you have to grind.

Congrats to you and your son! Williams is a great school.

Ignore the jealous and ignorant comments from these anonymous cowards.

You can't be too close a friend, or else you would have known the truth.

And you are naive about the recruiting process. You might not want to comment on subjects where you have no knowledge.
