Also, in this case, it is my understanding that with the arrangement between Aztec/Breakers, the Boston Aztec WPSL team now has professional status but the players don't really get paid unless they get called up, and sounds like this opportunity to train with their players is a good way for those ladies to earn some money and for the kids to train with great players. Should they give this away for free?
Settle down. Many threads on this discussion board have to do with cost. MANY.

The players do not get paid to play for the Aztec WPSL. So, yes, it is a chance for them to make money. But as the previous poster stated, the Bolts are using Breakers players and not charging. Aztecs are using Aztec players - and charging money.

I really don't understand the reason that Aztecs get a free pass so much on what they charge. They are in it for the money more so than many other clubs. Many people up on the north shore know this.

I could be wrong, but I think the Bolts intend to charge for the Breakers' players. The Bolts positional clinics and youth programs aren't free, and that's what I think the Breakers' players are supposed to do.

On all fronts the Scorpions, MPS and Stars programs are stronger than the Bolts. It isn't even close. I would say that right now the Aztecs, Crusaders and Hamlets are better. So what did the Breakers look at?
OK then. It's highly unlikely the Breakers give a crap about what accomplishments any club's players have achieved individually, or as a team. It's doubtful they look at the standings and see where the teams are playing.

It's more likely that the Breakers would be willing to work with an organization whose teams might not be at such a high level. What effect would they have on these teams that are already competing for national championships?

U15s and U16s have both managed to lose 100 MM rating points in 4 games. Quite an amazing downturn relative to last year.

Great thought, perhaps the Breakers are better off joining with a mediocre club that is underperforming. Will make them look better.

Are you actually saying that the FC Greater Boston Bolts are a "mediocre club?
Are you kidding me? Maybe the girls side is not what is once was, but as a overall club, name me another club in new England that is better.

How do you know they are "in it for the money"? Are there a lot of people getting rich off the Aztecs? Many people up on the north shore also know they are easily the best club on the north shore.

There are not a lot of people getting rich, but a few. Most have the same last name.

They are easily the best club on the north shore. Wow. Impressive. Some pretty tough competition up there, with the almost defunct SF Vikings and the other club whose director of coaching can not even attend games for an entire year. Tough market to compete in.

Watch out as MPS and Stars seek to move more into the north shore area.

Not much to watch out for. One of the issues facing north shore clubs is fields. Even the Aztecs had to merge with a club in Amesbury (not exactly the most convenient place to get to) in order to have access to outdoor fields. There just aren't enough fields, so I'd be intrigued to find out where MPS and Stars will be training/playing on the north shore.

01/22/09 - FC Stars Announces Expansion Into Northern Massachusetts

SUDBURY, MA, Jan 22, 2009 - FC Stars has announced plans to expand its operations into northern Massachusetts starting in Spring 2009. The expansion programs will be called ‘FC Stars North’, and will be headed up by experienced FC Stars Technical Directors Greg Cosgrove and Rich Kirk.

FC Stars North has secured two facilities for its programs, Sports World in Tewkesbury and Woburn High School in Woburn. The first programs offered will be the FC Stars Academy for U10 boys and girls at both locations. Not exactly 'north shore'. Tewksbury is Merrimack Valley, Woburn is greater boston. Not the same as the Salem/Marblehead/Swampscott area that Aztecs and others draw from.

OK. I guess Aztecs will continue to reign supreme over the north shore.

Doesn't look like FCGB will be too well represented at the SC RR this year.
