Interesting. Ludlow vs. NB will make for a classic and fascinating final.

How many cards were there in the game?

If this is true, I'd have to guess there are tough times ahead for Algonquin. They're losing two seniors (DE/JS) who were really expected by all in the community to carry the team to a state championship this year. The coach has pretty much committed to putting MPS kids on the squad, regardless of age or size. There are fewer strong players coming up next year (many club-playing seniors, for sure, but only one club kid on JV this year, I heard). Hope things work out for them & they don't get to experience what St. John's experienced this season.

So you have a gripe with MPS players.......why is that?

              Puma defense let them down.

Are they getting rid of the coach now? Where are all the haters? Was it the officials fault?

Nope, not a gripe - I happen to know a lot of excellent MPS players. My issue is with the coaches decision to apparently drop a bunch of older, more experienced kids in order to put some MPS young kids on the bench. Obviously if his intention was to win the championship this year, it was not a winning strategy for him (if it is in fact true that they lost this evening). And surely, the point is to win, right? That's what Algonquin stresses all the time.

I mean, I can see where he's coming from - last time Algonquin won States, it was with a core group of players from the same club. However, they were the same age and on the same team that won a MAPLE championship. I doubt anyone's shocked though. It was pretty clear that while Algonquin could win in CMass, which has been a weak division for a while, the team struggled outside it.

Ha ha...we'll have to wait & see - 2 MPS kids on the defense, so maybe it was them, not the Puma kids?...

I'm sure we'll find out in the am.

No I think you have Algonquin confused with all the teams that they eliminated on the way to the Ludlow game. Those teams had every excuse in the book!

Algonquin's time now. Last year it was the fact that TG had the flu. What will it be this year? Perhaps JS should have stayed in the net?

Do you honestly believe that the kids he cut would have made a difference on this team? You have shown your true ignorance.

By the way, this needs to be reiterated - Algonquin's in-season competition was not that strong -if DF had been able to play with Leominster, I'd guess that team would have beaten Algonquin twice (and we would have been able to watch what "tactics" the Gonk would have employed to attempt to shut him down) and Leominster would have been playing Ludlow tonight. Really, Algonquin got lucky this year.

                              Why? "True ingorance"? Please explain.

The fact remains that 4 or 5 kids spent the vast majority of the season on the bench because we can only imagine that the coach did not appear to think they would be an asset on the field (too small?). Would other players have made a difference? We'll never know, but there definitely were some other kids who played a huge role in having an undefeated JV season last year, & never made it onto varsity.

And Algonquin once again didn't make it to the State Championship game.
