Something about Algonquin creating an unfair advantage by scoring and then having the nerve to stop a PK. The MIAA is said to be looking at rule changes for next year in which Marlboro will not be limited by a card limit during any playoffs and they will get unlimited PK attempts until they score.

Unfortunately since the Leominster game was already played the MIAA cannot go back and award Marlboro the victory, but promise they will not let Marlboro lose in the playoffs again.
    Well done.

What is most interesting to me is how the coach of Marlborough did not control his team. You are in the playoffs. You are only down by 1 goal. You have 4 yellow cards against your team. Where is the message to the team that says, "OK boys, we are only down by a goal. Let's go and put the grudges and personal animosities behind us and play soccer. One more yellow card and we lose this game. So for the good of the team, let's stay composed and just go out and beat these guys. We are still in the game - only one goal down! Use your head, play smart, and let's tie this game and then win it. No more yellow cards."

To have a playoff game called with 15 minutes left when you are done by a goal because you got a fifth yellow card is embarrassing. Whether you hate the Gonk or not, that is a ridiculous way to lose. Ridiculous in that the fault lies soley with Marlborough and mostly (not all ) with the coach for allowing it to happen.

That would be, "o spelling wiz" if we're being picky, right?

Agreed, and hopefully the team will remember this next year. And the coach should discourage his team from traveling to trash other players from the sidelines!

All right people. Enough. Let's talk about what a great fall it was. The weather was excellent. Not too many postponements. A lot of good kids enjoyed this great game. Wachusett was strong with LS providing excellent finishing. The Algonquin machine was there again. Leominster was extremely talented and extremely entertaining to watch. All four Worcester teams made the postseason. The influx of West African talent in Worcester has made things very fun. Tantasqua finally won a playoff game after five years. Nashobe came on real strong after years of struggling, as did North Middlesex (with several huge victories over top ranked teams). Westboro and Marlboro were again strong.

If you took teams from 10 years ago or more, they couldn't even hold a candle to the level of play now. The club scene and the immigration front have changed everything. There are dads I talk to that played D1 college 30 years ago who agree with this completely. In the end, it's just really fun to watch.

Sorry Bromfield, the real state final is being played tomorrow between Rockport and D/S.

Have to concur with that. Bromfield got outshot by Leominster 34-4. Not good.

Even if that is correct which I seriously doubt it really means nothing, Bromfield is div 3, Leominster is div 1 and the score was only 4-2.

So? Both teams have a bunch of club players (doesn't Bromfield have a DAP kid?) - your starting 11 is key, and both teams have D1 players in their starting lineup. Div. 3 doesn't mean not good, just small. Lots of wealth in the Harvard area, lots of club kids.

What is your point? I was defending Bromfield as a Div 3 state title contender. Any comparisions to the CMASS Div 1 runner-up Leominster are useless in that discussion. It is a Div 3 discussion not how they did against Div 1 Leominster.
