Which seems kind of sane actually.
it is a maple cup and not a state cup -----also why are they even having a so called state cup at u11, u12, u13 -----get real, get real

Didn't seem to hurt them a bit to think of that early accomplishment as a state championship win. Coaches develop players, not clubs (or whiney forum posters), and they have a good one.

I was a referee at State Cups and choose to remain on the outside looking in for obvious reasons given the bashing that you people like to post for anyone who says anything positive about any club.

So if you actually did ref then why only praise the Eagles and not the Stars multiple wins or the Blazers titles on the boys side or how the 14 Stars and the 15 Scorpions were extremely talented teams and far and ahead of the rest of the age group or even how NSU beat SJ for the 14 boys title in a battle of small clubs. How about praise one of the losers who played well like the 15 MPS boys team that easily could have won the game.
Sounds way too fishy when you praise one club and then claim to be a ref so "you must know what your talking about" is the message you are trying to give. People who do this usually are not what they claim. There are many know everythings here but almost no one stands on the soap box and claims "I am right" because I am a coach or an administrator or a ref and actually are what they claim.

At some point in time most of you will realize three things about this forum.
1. That envy is a big problem in out society
2. When a kid fails to get what a parent believes is their due, some of those parents lash out and blame those associated with the decision.
3. That a number of coaches and club administrators use this forum to play out petty vendetta's
That said, sandwiched in between all the sniping and complaining is actually some valuable information. Here is my two cents. Once you get to the end of the road you realize that going down the club soccer path is really a gruelling marathon, not a glorious sprint. There is no perfect club, nor perfect situation and one size definitely does not fit all. The status quo in this soccer world changes pretty quickly so what was working yesterday, may not work today. Be careful about burning bridges, you never know when you may need to cross back. Most of all recognize that your kid is the one walking down the path, not you. Your job is to find the best environment you can for them and their job is to get all they can out of it. The key to this is finding the coaching style and expectations that match up best with your family's beliefs and seeking the level where your child is most comfortable. You will find that at the heart of most of the true parental discontent expressed on this forum is a situation where a square peg was being forced into a round hole and the blame can usually be spread out amongst several parties.

Just Kidding - good post. I'd like to add that for most young club players (say U11 and U12) the optimal situation is the closest club where the coaching is good. That may be down the street for some and further for others. Try to keep the drive to practice 30 minutes or less if you can. Beginning at U13 and U14 you start to see destination teams and if that is important for your kid and he/she will fit in soccerwise, then go for it.

All this talk of development is just a bunch of hooey. If my kid is on a team that wins, then he must be good, his team must be good, and that is all that matters.

The U19's area collection of college kids, that return for some fun.
And a MAPLE tournament win.
Even you know-nothing zealots that measure success by wins can't claim any dominance.
You want the people to stop bashing you? Stop being obnoxious glory hunting parents who can't stop boasting, gloating and brazenly predicting youth soccer dominance. As you see, when you lack class and dignity, there's a lot of peoplle who can't wait to see you fail and who will take greapleasure in weatching you wallow in your failure.
Your club has accomplished very little in the grand scheme of things.
