Blackwatch started in MASC at U11 and didn't join MAPLE until last fall, so they started in the bottom color. They killed everyone, it is highly unlikely that Kathy will move them all the way to Green, but not completely out of the realm of possibility. There will probably be five groups. Kathy uses her judgment, so Blackwatch could be in green, but the problem is that some teams might complain to her that they didn't earn the big jump. Because of that, there is no way she could move them all they way to Blue. Blackwatch is very good, and will more than likely qualify for MAPLE D1 as a result of this season and the Paul Irwin Cup. Because of their low standing, they will probably not make it to final and will probably lose to a Stars or Western United in one of the knockout stages. They do have one of the best players in the age group, and a good supporting cast.

Berkshire is a good team, they lost one goal games v Scorpions, Western, and Fuller Hamlets.

Because of all the shuffling that happened in the groups after last season, there are a lot of teams that are on the same level as Vipers, Eagles, and Inter, including Vikings, North Shore, Greater Boston from the other lower group, and Blackwatch and Rays from the lowest group.

Things won't make any sense until after the spring when teams are divisionalized. There could be quite the shakeup.
Has Blackwatch ever played a top team like Scorps or Western? Western is an ODP All Star team.

i was the one who posted the long explanation of how Blackwatch played in Masc and how Kathy would probably not move them all the way up to green. It's too political a process. If the Blackwatch team does well, and I believe they will, they will get a decent seed in the U12 tournament, and will play there way into D1. They're a mid level D1 team, they have great top end talent (and special player) but they bottom out and that's why they play teams like Western/Scorps even in small sided games when they have their top players.

the divisions make much more sense this season already then they did last season. The Greater Boston teams always struggle as U11s, and then they pick up more players each season. This GB team is pretty athletic. A decent team to be certain. They're not a first division type but most of the GB teams, even the current Stars Rovers, took a similar path of struggling as U11s and working their way up. Of course they do so mostly by changing rosters over, but that's for another post some other time. Current 14s, 13s each started low and worked their way up.

in green currently, Granite is a good team and will probably do well enough in the tournament to be D1 next year. Stingers, Aztecs, and Pioneers are going to struggle, and may end up in MAPLE D. Vikings and North Shore are borderline D2 for next year imho.

In the lower groups, watch out for new team Strikers. LIke Ladystrikers couple of years ago. Athletic and new from RI, will make case to play into d2.

it's still stars, western, fuller, scorps, then everyone else for now, but what of the future?

Gotta figure Cosgrove can keep Stars on top, he's proven he can keep it together and club rep is strong. Scorpions team has all the making of a little team that grows up, another strong club that will continue to get pick of area talent. Marino will probably move on, that's him MO (I don't know anythign, but these things tend to happen there). Scorpions may be one of those teams like the current Stars 14s that takes off at U13.

Western is interesting because they are more motivated than other Western teams. Coach Lavner has them going all over the place, has them at ODP early on. There is strong talent in the area if he can pick up the pieces from Berkshire (they don't have longevity in the cards). That team could remain a factor.

Fuller Hamlets has too long a tradition of falling off to be considered a true factor. The long ball and young giant philosophy will eventually be their downfall. I can't imagine that Stars, Scorpions and Western won't separate themselves in a couple of years.

Past that, Greater Boston will probably have a say in a couple of years, just as the current U14 team does. That's their MO.

Blackwatch is a wild card because there will be major temptations for those kids to move on. Which state cup will they play in? I think their listed as a Mass team right now, but they may become more RI situated. Who knows?

Then like every other division this age group will end up being a hodge podge.

My assumption is that none of these teams will be regional/national contenders, but things can change.

That U11 pool, however, is very very good.

How can you tell that 11/12 year olders won't be future regional contender?

Fuller and Stars are better than Scorps and Western

When the Stars had the 2 players who were playing up in the Fall play u11 last Spring that changed the balance in the division.

The Fuller Hamlets,Stars and Western United Teams are very close for now. Fuller has a very real potential to fall off, but that is left to be seen. Stars and Western have a bit more stability. If Western picks up the top 3 or 4 players from Berkshire that will cause a serious issue for the Stars as they are now, however Stars will continue to find new players that want to play for the club.

The interesting question is at U14-U16 which of these teams will still be around and contending? All of them, none of them?

I don't see any Berkshire player taking a starting spot from the current United squad.....

How can you make that statement? If you are going to bash a club team, then you better be able to back it up with more than an anonymous opinion.
