Why does there have to be discussion about which team is better? They are both in the same Maple division, they play a lot of the same tournaments, and I would expect that they are going to go head-to-head a lot. Sunday was the first time that the Athletics have beat the United team...ever. I'm guessing it won't be the last time. Like any sport, anything can happen on game day...that's why you play the game.
As far as a team in the club is concerned, there is no difference except for the coaches and probably their practice schedules. Everyone pays the same fees regardless of the level of the club. Stars also has a 3rd team at that age level that is quickly growing...taking players from top teams at other clubs. Stars must be doing something right. Maybe they will end up with the top 3 teams in Mass!
These are 12 and 13 years old girls. The have a lot of growing to do on and off the field. Hopefully, the girls are playing for the coach that they are comfortable with. If not, noone is holding a gun to their head to stay with a team or the club. I am guessing that the girls can handle playing each other, winning, and losing, much better than their parents.
Bottom line...there are two strong Stars teams at the same age level. I can't imagine that this is the first time this has happend for a club. Really, what is the issue?
