Nope not me. But I agree with it. The longer my daughter played in MAPLE the less I paid each year. I got smarter. But not more frugal. That is genetic.

Everyone has pressure to win; I have a lot more respect for a team with a short roster that struggles but plays everyone than a big roster team that doesn't, and that is regardless of my kid's play time.
United has 20 players on its roster. Assuming everyone is healthy, is it realistic to think that all the players can make significant contributions? Is there an ECNL rule that only 18 players can dress for a game? With several NT players in the starting lineup isn't it safe to assume there is going to be a pretty significant dropoff in ability to impact close games when the bench comes in? If you are blowing out another team or vice versa, it's a different scenario. What about GKs? Thus, the question remains: is this more of a showcase or more of a competitive league?

One of the 20 is the Nantucket player, now going to school in the Berkshires. How does she manage to train with the team? It's like the kid from Maine on the Scorpions roster.

I'm told her Dad drives her on weekends and vacations. She played well for the U16 United team at NEWSS filling in for girls injured during the HS season.

Who are we talking about? The Stars or the Scorpions player?

I think 22 or 25 but you can go on the ECNL site and find out. Substitutions are once per half.

I'm with you. Don't forget that some teams played their first games today, so they would have had to have left yesterday, thus missing 2 days of school. What kind of school day do these kids face on Monday after the travel home?

Then I guess it was a good thing that your child doesn't play for one of these teams.

The head of CFC said this "I have to agree....as far as developmental purposes the ECLN has zero standards.....as far as college recruiting the ECLN is a massive success." and went on to explain further that "Coaches flock to these events and it makes perfect sense.... the top players in the country all at one event and generally all at the same complex such as Vegas. For the top schools its like fishing in a barrel." So the parents who don't think this is "nuts" are sending their daughters for that reason. My only question would be whether the majority of parents realize that their daughters are supporting the aspirations of a select few that will actually be recruited and signed to these top programs, whose initial attention to these coaches comes via their national team and regional team experience. The rest of them will most likely end up playing at schools within their immediate region. So for the vast majority, they are putting their time and effort into making the process easier for the college coaches, but not necessarily easier for themselves or their daughters. It's great, though, being able to chat around the water fountain at work how your daughte was exposed to hundreds of college coaches.
