Really tells you something if they couldn't draw from Exp. or Scor. There's a lot to be said on both sides of the argument, but is Scott C. is lying to the parents... eventually he is going to be found out. Remember, the good guys always win.

I too, hope that BW can make it through.

Also, you could very easily make the same arguement that it "tells you something" that the Scorps and Exp have been unsuccessful in recruiting out any of the BWP players.

It takes 11 players to field a team and as good as the player was who left,. a 2nd place MAPLE finish and respectable results in high level regional tournaments and regionals was not because 1 player played all 11 positions at once.

To me, I still see a R1PL team as a destination location long before a sub-regional team that has to win sub-regional to get in (Exp/WU)..all that BWP has to do is play well enough to stay in and I still think the talent that is left is good enough to do that.

Which, BTW, is still saying there is a pretty good talent level left.

OK. Scorpion Bowl in Two Weeks. Time for some off-season prognostications.

First, the disclaimers.

1. Just like its off-season for the teams, its off-season for yours truly. Cut me a little slack, here.

2. Some teams have been training hard. Some teams have been hardly training. Some girls have been playing alot of BBall and not doing much FBall this Winter.

3. I have not seen all of the CT and NY teams play so my Mass. bias will be showing through.

Secondly, to the guy (or girl) who got all hot and bothered over the predictions in the Fall.... Lighten up, Francis ! If you don't like predictions, stop reading this post.

Here goes:

Girls U14 Championship - Bracket A

Stars and it won't be close. The intersting match-up will be Seacoast v MPS for second. In the Fall, Seacoast won the NEP but the matches with MPS were very close. Seacoast lost their keeper and a midfielder to Stars. I think this pushes MPS to finish in front of them. Rays won't get a point.

Girls U14 Championships - Bracket B

Explosion v Scorpions is the interesting match-up here for the right to lose to the Stars in the final. Fuller will keep the scores close but not have much of the run of play. I have never seen the Patriots play but any New York team coming up here with that name has alot of guts. Patriots don't appear to travel well. I think they may tie Fuller.

Girls U14 Elite - Bracket A

This is tough to call. Bolts finished atop Division 2 MAPLE in the Fall, barely squeaking ahead of Granite. When they played, it was a tie. I think these two teams are so close its difficult to separate them. Bolts are coming off a big tournament win at Disney in November so I will pick them to finish first via a tie-breaker. Alleycats are not a bad team but seem to have trouble scoring. Their games will be close. I have never seen S.Central play, so I will pick them last.

Girls U14 Elite - Bracket B

Seems to be the weaker of the two brackets. Inter and Bayside are both relegated to D2 for the Spring and it was not a pretty Fall for either team. Aztecs are good defensively. I think we will see a few 0-0 games here. AFC Pride ? Never heard of them. I pick them last.

Girls U14 Premier - Bracket A

NH Classics should win this. Stars B team is weak. Odyssey Sport are not even the best team in Maine. That would be Blackbear United. I haven't seen Saratoga, so I pick them to finish last.

Black Bear United with Elite finishing second. Anyone out there know anything about Saratoga Wilton ? Me neither. They finish last.

Sorry it is not the stars U14 Division one team that is playing in this age group, The u14 Team is playing in U15 Bracket the week after so as the BLK Watch u14 . Seacoast should finish up top on this one.

What makes the Scorpions coach so strong? His A license?

It seems to me the team has better talent this year as a result of his old Inter players and a couple of Stars cast offs, but results are similar in state and not as good out of state.

good question, Seen him coach younger teams and trained, the guy trains well, good coach, although he has an A liscenese. That does not make him a great coach. There are coaches in this division that I have seen coached and play. It is about reading the opponents and making adjustments during play time. Being able to get the most out of your players. He is a good coach but just not to impressive.

Yes Boys program could be a distraction also.

Well, according to the team GotSoccer pages that come up when you click the links, it is the Stars 14 A playing on the first weekend in the top flight, the B team is in a lower flight, and the two Stars teams in the U15 brackets the next weekend are in fact their U15s. Not to say that means the poster you are responding to doesn't know something else to be true, that poster may know something the rest of us don't, but the team page links say otherwise.
