There is no Maple type club league in the winter because then all the clubs would have to have indoor home fields. There isn't enough indoor turf in MA to make this possible. Big clubs do sponsor various indoor turf and futsal leagues, but they have to make them open to everyone or they wouldn't fill their schedules.

Why would every Club have to have a facility. All you would need is a few Clubs with the facility. Would it be that hard to play just Club ball 1 or 2 nights a week. We all travel to our away games, so why would it be so difficult to get Clubs to show up to a facility, lets say within 45 minutes of your home? I can't wait to hit megabucks.

Read the original post: "There isn't enough indoor turf in MA to make this possible." A few clubs with facilities?? Have you counted the number of Maple teams lately? There are not enough indoor fields in MA for Maple to have a winter season. This leaves the clubs on their own to organize winter leagues, and those with indoor facilities end up completing with each other.

Can you name me a Club that has organized a winter league competing against other Clubs? Not against town teams.

I am not trying to say that every Club in Maple should be involved ,nor am I trying to say that Maple should even be involved. I am just saying it would be nice to see a few of the Clubs with facilities make an attempt at trying to get age appropriate good competition for their teams. I am well aware of the lack of indoor facilities especially on the North Shore.

I don't really know why I am posting this except to ask that why more of these highly competetive small tournaments aren't put together by Clubs that have the facilities? Not to mention the Club that is putting this on is doing it at one of the opponents home facilities. Another thing is that it seams that there should be some kind of winter league or indoor Club soccer set up to get these kids playing competively year round. Nationally it seams as though our state does pretty well, can you imagine if we had the facilities to play all year like most of our competition.
Amen!!! I wish my son was playing with your club. You have no idea what lengths we've had to go through to keep him busy. You would think clubs who have facilities would do more.

                Nike Indoor Cup

Separate divisions for town and club teams. Fantastic indoor facility! For details use the following link:

We went to this small tournament today, which was held despite the bad weather and it was a fantastic experience. The SFVikings put this together at the Aztecs home indoor facility and were nice enough to invite them along with Galway Rovers and ACArlington. Everyone showed up and every game they played was very competetive. All the teams showed the most respect for eachother. I wish we could play in more tournaments like this. My hats off to LR the BU-11 Vikings Mgr for a great job. $200 got us 4 -25 minute games in 4 hours and winter hats for every kid and coach. The effort was truly worth it for our kids.

You might think that because it is a great facility that there will be great competition. Not. I entered my U-10 team in the U-11 division last year hoping for a great tournament. We scored 36 goals in 4 games and did not get scored on.

I was also at this tournament and I agree with everything said here except the respect eachother comment. Just before the playoffs the Viking mgr wanted to get a picture of all the kids and coaches with those hats he gave out to everyone. The Aztec coaches refused to wear them and their players all wore them backwards. I know the Aztecs were probably upset at not getting a point in the 1st 3 games, but I think it showed a real lack of class on the coaches part to allow this behavior by 10 and 11 year olds. It is my understanding that the Vikings did not even have to invite the Aztecs and they should have been glad just to be there. All the hats said was Viking Invitational "10" on them and were done in Red,White and Blue not even the Vikings colors. I kind of feel sorry for them if the coaches allow this type of crap at this young age.

That's pretty sad. My son plays on a Maple D1 team which has winter training sessions open to interested players. Players from other clubs come & wear the club's practice jerseys. Nope, nobody's trying to steal players, before anyone comments to that effect. It's supposed to be fun, people.
