There are 6 groups of 10 teams this fall in Maple BU11. What does Maple do with 60 BU11 teams come spring? How many bottom teams tend to drop out? Will Blue still only have 8 teams and the rest 10 teams like last spring? (only 30 BU11 teams then) Can't remember a fall when there were this many BU11 teams.

I think some of it has to do with U11 8v8 being a new thing this fall for MAPLE. Part of the U11 league's structure in MAPLE is geographic in nature to limit travel, whereas the MASC fall U12 8v8 league doesn't have nearly as many teams and travel burdens are heavier. Definitely some of the new single teams and even many of the more established clubs' second teams should probably be in MASC, but the smaller fields and difference in physical development at this age are gonna cause some blowouts, but I agree, certainly should not be as much as it is happening this fall.Comment

From what I understand, an explosion of new teams applied to MAPLE and despite trying to block it, a legal component prevented MAPLE from controlling how many clubs may join. Now you have a ridiculous number of clubs in the system and a huge dilution of play. A few years ago there were three U11 divisions. The first two from each and the next three best records went to the blue division. Now you will get the first place teams and only 3-4 of the second place teams. This is ridiculous.Comment

look for the better clubs starting to migrate out of maple. The original charter of maple, being a league for premier soccer clubs, is being lost by their inabiltly to stop anyone from forming a club/team with no credentials or qualifications other than being a town coach thinking it is a good ideaOriginally posted by Unregistered View PostComment

Where exactly do you expect these teams "migrate" to? NEP?? The three club league? What a joke! Just because there is an explosion of teams in Maple doesn't mean there will be less competition. If anything, it will increase it. The more kids playing soccer the better.
MAPLE should stop with the "premier" focus and provide enough divisions for everyone to play at their level. If they did it right there would be no need for MASC.Comment
