What if you are already qualified for State Cup in the Spring, you have 3-4 new players on your team and it really doesn't matter to the coach about results ( defined as score only).
As the coach you are worried about tactics- formations- and getting your players to work as a unit. You have a strong team, good bench and history of strong play- never finishing lower than 3rd in your division and always a candidate for State Cup (and or Andre/Irwin Cup)- You want your team to gel and work on many different things in game situations and because of this try different formations, try to get new players acclimated to multiple positions at the expense of some more established players, and sometimes winning the game.
Your parents (from hence in the post referred to as nutjobs) cant see the forest from the trees and worry only about the final score, how their little Ronaldo or Marta played, their playing time and if they scored or assisted. They certainly dont understand the differences in a 4-4-2 to a 4-5-1. Have no clue as to an overlapping run let alone a flat back 4. But they are vocal parents who if not happy will bitch and complain to anyone that will listen, other parents on the team, other parents not on the team, the DOC, the Coach, the barber, etc.....
The nutjobs used to see their child win- play all game- get praise for being just so fantastic- are now seeing less playing time, the kids not winning every game and the praise just not happening for every run, shot or good play- and threaten to leave - talk to doc to move up to another level (age group) in which their child OF COURSE- should be in anyway. They Get more uneducated nutjobs rilled up as well and there is dissent on the club of a really good club who have a shot at State Cup.
What do you do?
Thanks in advance ...
