Lastly, Rivers parent, please give LS coach a break as I believe it was her kid that scored the goal and you just can't shut that emotion off. As long as it is somewhat balanced for all of her team members's successes who cares. Do you think that Pete Carroll of USC goes overboard with his celebrations after a touchdown? Hasn't hurt his teams!

OK. Here is another view.

Rivers was dominating the game. The LS goalie made some incredible saves to keep the score at 0 - 0. LS made a tactical change late in the game which changed the momentum to their favor. A beautiful play which started from the back to the center mid to the left outside mid resulted in a fantastic goal for the LS left mid towards the end of the game making the score 1 - 0 LS. The LS coach was very loud and vocal in her enthusiasm.

At that point, if not a stall, LS started focusing on possession only ... they stopped their effective attacking which resulted in the momentum shifting back to Rivers. Rivers seemed to start playing with 3 or even 4 forwards at that point and overwhelmed the LS defense with 2 quick goals. Rivers' forwards are very fast.

If the enthusiastic reaction of the coach and the possession focus of LS led to Rivers' increased desire, good for Rivers. If the LS coach inadvertantly helped to create that, she learned something as she wrote.

It was a scrimmage. Let's hope both teams learned something. Good luck to both teams this year.

It is interesting how different people have different perceptions. I saw LS trying to posses the ball toward the end of the game. Something they had not been doing effectively. Others saw a stall tactic. Was coach trying to develop her players or was coach stalling during a scrimmage? I could be wrong but I quess only LS knows for sure. However, everyone is entitled to their opinion and should not be told to "grow up" because the LS coach is a woman and this is why someone at Rivers is picking on her????? Come on, the LS coach can and will take care of herself which is evidenced by her writing.

Last time I checked the goal in HS soccer was to win and to upbraid a coach for getting excited in a 2-1 is totally beyond the pale. If it was a 5-0 game and the goal was scored in the last few minutes I could understand but even that is misleading sometimes. I had a four year bench player score a goal in a 9-0 game and the team went nuts - it was the first goal for a graduating senior. I explained to the coach what happened after the game so there was no misunderstanding. People need to stop being sore losers and stop looking to be offended. Sports always involve winning and losing so take a chill and try to understand what is going on from the perspective of your opponent. It makes life a lot easier.[/quote]

You missed the point. She and LS lost 2 - 1. The point of the intial post was that her enthusiasm for the goal which made it 1 - 0 in her favor, motivated Rivers to come back and win 2 - 1. That's it. She has every right to be enthusiastic and she explained that well herself. She also is right that her goal is not to motivate the other team to come back which she may have done.

O.K. So her daughter scored the goal that generated the response from the coach that appeared more enthusiastic than her public praise of other players success? River's parent, why would that motivate the River's players?

Likely not posted by a Rivers parent - more likely by a disgruntled LS parent. A Rivers parent would not care enough to post.

Girls game had a 30 minute weather delay shortly before the half and another worse batch of weather came through with about 30 minutes left in the second half. Game called 2-0 AB

Boys game was postponed completely.

High expectations for AB on the girls side. They should meet them which is amazing since they lost one of their stars to graduation. The team/towns have incredible depth. I think the only shot at beating them in the DCL is Westford. I think the boys side will see some movement in those rankings.

Star that graduated from AB scored her first college goal for BC this week - unassisted!
