On the Boys' side, Gloucester vs Masconomet this Saturday morning should be good.

You guys are too funny. Good games, like someone is going to come and watch who isn't family or friend. Why not just say: here's a shout-out for my kids team.

The people on this thread enjoy High School Soccer. Nobody suggested that one had to see a game. I know that I'm just interested in what people think about different teams chances this year. From my daughter's club team, I know many kids at different high schools. Many of us are nutty soccer parents. We get a kick out of this. Healthier than other obsessions.

If you aren't interested, why are you reading this thread? Others seem to be enjoying it.

Marshfield had huge turnover and will struggle. Back 4 graduated so their keeper, who is very good by the way, will have her work cut out for her.

Is this ranking for all of Mass? Any of the schools D2 or D3?

The rankings are basically e-mass and are based almost entirely on the previous years perfomance. Over the year you will see some changes but the primary correction/adjustment will be at the end of the season and after about half the teams in the top 20 are knocked out of the tournament prior to the regional semi-finals.

One of the things that makes High School soccer so different, is that one or two players can completely change the results. A team can be very sucessful with a single super-star. Once that player leaves, the team's results can change completely.

Teams from all 3 divisions in E Mass North and South are represented in the poll. In my experience three things go into deciding the poll. First is prior year's performance. It is likely that a team that went to the Emass final will be in the Globe top 20, even if they have only 3 or 4 starters back. Second, is strength of conference. Some conferences like the Bay State or Dual County are viewed as strong and all the top teams get ranked. Others like the Northeastern and Middlesex are viewed as weak so only perenial powers like Winchester will be ranked. The final is returning all-scholastics. Teams that have them tend to be ranked. Not rocket science but certainly a starting point for debate.

Very true. I think Whitman Hanson will take their group with the 2 Mewis' and Petta on the same team. Very formidable.

Whitman-Hanson Regional High School wi;; do very well this year and he Coach will very likely win Coach of the Year. A couple of players can make that much of a difference.

I would go see a Winchester Belmont tilt in late October whether or not I knew anyone playing. These types of matches are intense and passionately played.
