“The criminalization and banning of cannabis is an instrument of racist and colonial policy,” the socialist lawmaker wrote on Twitter. “The IOC should reconsider its suspension of Ms. Richardson and any athletes penalized for cannabis use.”
    Excuses bro.....

You don’t want to talk to media and get fined........racist

You smoke pot and get suspended.......racist

Both athletes in those cases said they knew the rules, rules that are for everyone....but the woke liberals and media still label them racist

Pot criminalization started largely as a racist policy and has continued to negatively impact people of color disproportionately to this day - blacks are 4X more likely to be arrested and convicted for pot vs whites, even though they consume the drug at similar rates. the Nixon administration used to to target dissenters

“The Nixon campaign in 1968, and the Nixon White House after that, had two enemies: the antiwar left and black people,” former Nixon domestic policy chief John Ehrlichman told Harper’s writer Dan Baum for the April cover story published Tuesday.

“You understand what I’m saying? We knew we couldn’t make it illegal to be either against the war or black, but by getting the public to associate the hippies with marijuana and blacks with heroin. And then criminalizing both heavily, we could disrupt those communities,” Ehrlichman said. “We could arrest their leaders. raid their homes, break up their meetings, and vilify them night after night on the evening news. Did we know we were lying about the drugs? Of course we did.”

I feel for her - it's a very stupid rule that should be changed and she was going through a very difficult period at the time (her mother had just died), but it is the stupid rule for now and she broke it. Now that it is legal in half the states the rules need to be changed. Plus pot can be detected for a long time in your system, long long after you've consumed it, and at variable rates person to person. US companies, law enforcement and the military struggle with how to handle drug testing for employees for this reason. Officials have even admitted it isn't considered performance enhancing so banning it is antiquated. She happens to be black. Would you react the same way if she were white?

I totally agree she's a huge risk. She's not a good VP and definitely not a good presidential candidate. Biden should have picked another female - he already had the black vote pretty much locked up. Amy Klobochar was in the running but right when he was deciding the whole George Floyd thing blew up and she had been a MN prosecutor. Tammy Duckworth would have been another good choice. I suspect she'll be pushed out so that someone better can run for 2024, make up some personal reason not to run, be given some cushy government or corporate job by a donor somewhere - if she can keep her enormous ego in check. I don't think anyone has ever primaried a VP out of the nomination process before but I could be mistaken.

She didn’t even know her mother.

Media should ask her one question. Did you smoke pot at other times in the last year, or only when your mom died. I bet the answer is she didn’t pick up the spliff for the first time when her biological estranged mom died.

To say pot laws are racist is plain stupid

To fail a drug test for pot at or around the time of the trials and or the Olympics is just plain dumb. I heard her speak. She ain’t working for NASA after track, that’s for sure.

Does that mean the white girl made the Olympics in the 100 now? I was pulling for the Harvard girl, but I think she was 5th. She did blaze the 200 and qualify for Tokyo though. Now that woman is the total package. Neurobiology grad from Harvard, Olympian and cute af. Pulling for her for the gold....if she gets it, she will be on a cereal box. Sponsors already lined up at her door.

Where is the guy who was saying gas prices are not higher?

AAA reported Thursday night that the national average price for a gallon of regular gas had risen to $3.12, the highest it’s been on Independence Day weekend since 2014.

“Today, 89 [percent] of U.S. gas stations are selling regular unleaded for $2.75 or more,” AAA spokesperson Jeanette McGee said in a statement. “That is a stark increase over last July 4 when only a quarter of stations were selling gas for more than $2.25.”

I bet a gymnast pulls it off during the Olympics.

                    Fire this guy already....

White House chief medical adviser Anthony Fauci said Sunday that fully vaccinated Americans should “go the extra step” and wear masks when traveling to parts of the country with low vaccination rates.

It's not a mandate but a recommendation. Vaccinated people can still get Covid, most times asymptomatically, and pass it to others. Many states have horribly low vaccination rates, red of course. Now as cases are going back up in those states and the Delta variant spreading very quickly, red state governors are begging locals to get vaccinated. Being vaccinated keeps you from getting really sick.

How many times has he said wear as mask, don’t where a mask.....make up your mind, we are 1.25 years in....there should be enough “science” now right?

Read up on the history of pot laws, not just what happened in the late 60s/70s. There absolutely was racial intent back in the day. Now it isn't so much intentional but it's clear people of color are still impacted far more than whites.

I hope this leads to a broader discussion about legalizing pot and changing laws. Employers especially in legalized states are really grappling with whether or not to test employees for it. There aren't very good tests currently which also matters for law enforcement trying to measure if someone is impaired. And some people are still serving absurd sentences for pot.
