herd immunity involves vaccines- herd immunity is a math equation thats how the WHO tracks it- follow the science follow the science

R=1 -it simply means that enough of a given population is immune to be stable against a specific thing, and if an incident occurs it is easily manageable
for example TB outbreaks on the west coast
scarlet fever
Dyptheria etc...

2) don't be such a simpleton...by your number it would not approach the 2 million that was stated but that is besides the real point...we reached the current number because it was a novel virus and there were no therapeutics that were known to manage the virus...we now know the most vulnerable populations and can take appropriate measures to safeguard them or better yet they know the appropriate measures to keep themselves protected so they CHOOSE...we do not know how many people have been infected because it is a novel virus and models are continually being proven wrong as new data emerges...and number of cases may be the worst metric to use when gauging the trajectory of the disease...hospitalization and death rates are a better indicator of where we are in the fight with this virus and those numbers are promising especially as they relate to the current situations overseas
