I have no idea what those figures would be. But I do think it wrong when it becomes excessive. It's a poor use of taxpayer money regardless of who the President might be.

I just find it interesting that you are comparing 4 years of his salary to 287 years of equivalent salary to support his hobby. It's more disingenuous when we recall his pontificating on this during the election that he would not waste taxpayer money as Obama did for how much he played golf. He made it a loud and clear point that he would not be on the golf course anywhere near as often as Obama had. He's eclipsed that in just 3 years, bypassing Obama's activities over 8 years.

These are the facts. He is spending that money. He made those statements. Obama may have abused it and I would like to see those numbers myself before I draw any conclusion.

What value comes from making this ongoing comparison to previous administrations anyways? Does that make it right?

Many recipients are agri-businesses farms, not the smaller family farms. The latter are the ones really being squeezed. They don't have the financial depth to take multiple hits. Many are having to sell their fams to corporations. Personally I find that troubling - I don't want profits dictating what happens with our food supply

Even the GOA has said his trips so far (we'll round off to 3 years) have cost us between $105M -$110M compared to his donated salary of $1.2M. That right there is 262 years. If he stays on track with what he has done so far, it will add to up to about $340M in 8 years which is 850 years. Then there's the money is probably making from staff and security staying at his properties that the government/we pay for.

In contrast Obama spent about $115 across all eight years.
