Prior to the ACA , any American , could go to any public hospital in the USA and get treated for health issues . Even if they couldn't afford it. They still can. The ER is where they show up. Since the ACA, the number of ER visits has NOT decreased.
Prior to ACA , 44 million were uninsured. The ACA added 7 million to Medicaid after Obama changed the rules. Medicaid isn't , and wasn't designed as " health Insurance" . The entire cost , unlike " insurance" sits entirely on the shoulders of the taxpayer .20 million were able to get Insurance with Marketplace subsidies. Since the Insurance Companies saw that the numbers didn't add up, 700,000 insured dropped have off the rolls in 2017 because of increased costs. That is the fault of those who designed the ACA , and the reliance on younger healthier individuals who didn't sign up in enough numbers. Thye need there dollars to subsidize the older individuals with more health issues.
That's what is meant by the " spiraling down " of Obama care, because the formula isn't sustainable. Between 2013 and 2017, under the ACA , the uninsured rate in CT declined 4.3 %. Of the still uninsured , 45 % of them say that high cost is what prevents them from purchasing health insurance.
In summary, the ACA was a plan designed by Lawyers and Insurance Companies under the direction of Nancy Pelosi , and signed off by Obama. it did give coverage to many that did not, but it hardly solved the health insurance issue, and it put an additional burden on taxpayers.Comment
