How stupid are you? This never happened. Not ever. I’d be willing to guess that Kavanaugh never even met the woman before. In her mind, she might have some long lost memory that she thinks happened. Maybe she was wasted. Maybe there was some other guy that she confused for him. But if it really happened, she would have come forward long before now. He’s only gone through 6 different confirmations. If something as traumatic as this happened, she would certainly know more details. She remembers only enough details that are hard to refute. If she was more specific, it would be easy to disprove. Vague and smearing. Hoping that the mere appearance of impropriety will be enough to derail this guy’s nomination. If she was lying, I said two things would happen. 1) She wouldn’t testify, because she knows her story would get blown to bits. 2) She would not have one shred of credible evidence to support her claims.

Both are now coming true. The only thing worse than someone doing what he allegedly did, is for someone to make up a false claim that someone did this. Bring forward another witness. Some detail of a party. Residence. Number of people in attendance. Did she know him? If not, how did she even know who the heck he was? There are people I went to high school with and was friends with, whose names I struggle to remember now. This doesn’t pass the smell test. The timing is suspicious. I don't agree. It's a serious accusation regarding someone who is up for a lifetime appointment to the highest court in the land. It should be explored futher.

Explore what exactly? There is no proof. She doesn’t know the address. Who was there. How many people total. What are they going to explore? You have crossed into dangerous territory here. Now with the partisan divide, all anyone needs to do is make up an accusation to derail a nomination? Just say something that can’t be proven or disproven and people will assume the worst. Back up the accusation with some proof, or apologize and go away. It doesn’t matter to most people whether or not this guy gets confirmed. But I hate to see people falsely accused. If this was true, she would have started impeachment proceedings for his current court. That would have blocked his nomination for the SC in itself. But no. Well said and I would add there is a reason we have statues of limitations. This may have been a crime when and if it happened but the statue of limitations would have been 1 year. Ford could have told her parents or friends and they may have guided her on the situation but so far there doesn’t seem to be any evidence of that. In addition this would have been local law enforcement’s responsibly. You can’t just fast forward 36 years and dictate the start and conditions of a federal investigation to elected officials on your behalf after more than ample time and opportunities to do so. Kavanaugh’s name has been on Trump’s Supreme Court list for over 2 years. If she was so concerned she could have inserted herself when the list first came out. This is clearly only a political tactic and she is complicit in it.

Yet the nuclear option that removed the 60 vote rule was invoked first by Harry Reid in 2013 to jam obama appointees through. He did this because obama pissed the senate republicans off by jamming through appointees during senate recess in 2012.
