In the end, it's about two things here. Money and power. Our government is properly structured by the Constitution to divide power in an appropriate manner. The people in the government simply refuse to play by the rules and we let them do it, over and over and over again. And the driver of that is the money. How does Trump bring back jobs now by exempting the largest and fourth largest steel importing nations from his new tariffs? How does he revive these industries as he has claimed he would?
What is the point of the tariffs at all if the biggest importers are left off the table from the outset?

You aren’t following very well. He told Canada and Mexico, he would exempt them if he gets favorable nafta fixes. NAFTA fixes will be better for a greater majority of Americans than just tariffs on steel and aluminum. As for the rest of the world. China....it is about so much more then just steel and aluminum. They steal our technology and intellectual property on a daily basis and have a much more closed market than we do which allows them to benefit from huge trade imbalances. Plus we need then to lean on rocket man. So this is a shot across the bow. Europe. F them. You do realize that everything we sell into that market gets hit with a 17-27 percent value add tax depending on the country right? We are the largest import market for steel. Very little comes from eu. Turkey is the largest. China, although they appear to not be a large import source tranships steel. Meaning they ship to someone like Korea, who supposedly does additional processing and then the Koreans sell into the us market as Korean steel. Bunch of horse poop.
In 2000, the us produced ~100 million tons of steel, and the Chinese produced about 120 million tons. Fast forward to 2017 and us produces 80 and China 850. In under two decades, the Chinese govt killed the us steel industry. Subsidized electricity and wages...can’t compete against that, even with all the productivity gains.

Had to listen to democrats say trump was off his rocker and was going to lead us to war with North Korea. Now they are having unified winter Olympic teams and reach3d out to trump to meet. Trump accepted and would be first prez in my lifetime to meet with North Korea and negotiate. Clinton gave Korea 4 billion and got nothing but violations. Obama couldn’t do sheet.
