I am personally familiar with them. But, people voting for one thing or another based on hysteria (legit or not) is a problem. Or, it should be.

Hollywood has jumped in and are going to make a gun control push. Many of these same people have armed guards for protection. It is OK for them to have armed people protecting themselves. It is NOT OK for the normal folk to do the same.

(And, no, I am not a gunower)

Who is saying that is it not OK for normal people to possess guns? Gun control is not taking guns away. Only those extremists supporting gun ownership form this argument to scare the moderate gun owners into supporting their view.

Never said it was a boogie man. In fact, for many years I was a member of the NRA. My father put me through all their marksmanship and safety courses when I was a child.

That focus of the NRA is great.


But the leadership of the NRA is extremely political. They drive the NRA agenda, not the general membership. That is why I left them, because they no longer represented my views on gun control. And believe me, I own some guns.

The things moderates seek in tighter gun control are logical, push us towards a safer culture around guns and do nothing to threaten your rights or mine under the Second Amendment.

Believe me, I have equally strong problems with the extremists that represent themselves as PETA or even the extreme environmentalists that do things like spike trees to hurt lumberjacks and other vile stuff.

Gun control laws in this country need to be tightened up for all kinds of reasons. I'm not for eliminating guns at all. I like mine too.

The NRA has seen declining membership revenues and gun/ammo sales are off since Trump became president. But like you said it's the leadership and their doing the bidding of manufacturers, not their members, that will hopefully lead to its eventual demise. There's dozens of surveys that show gun owners are more like you than the few crazies controlling discussions about legislation.

That is legitimate. Government officials of every persuasion send their kids off to private school and then deny that the things those kids get at private school are not also desirable for every student. Your kids need a hundred hours of test prep but not mine. Same goes for DTs kid as well. He is all in for devos charter vision for our public schools but no way his kid would be in that environment.
