Originally posted by Unregistered View PostFrom the minute Obama was elected the GOP made it their mission to make sure he failed* He only had control for two years. The House switched in 2010 (sworn in Jan 2011). The Senate fully flipped in 2014. But even in the first two years Obama really only had a max of 59 Dem senators, not 60 (various departures, illnesses changed the numbers). With the 60 vote requirement for many bills almost anything became impossible (see Merrick Garland appointment), even more so after 2014. Obama knew he had to leap on healthcare during the very brief time it had any chance of passing. At the time of the ACA vote he only 58 Dems but he got to 60 in the Senate with two Independents.
As for ACA? It offers a way for millions of self employed and small business owners to get coverage (**see how many people fit that definition). It also means millions who couldn't get insurance because of pre existing conditions can get insurance now. Prior to ACA the truly poor had access to care via Medicaid and programs like CHIP. Part of ACA expanded Medicaid coverage but the rest was for all those others. ACA also improved employer based plans like guaranteed coverage for certain conditions, better mental health care coverage etc. Once boneheads figured out what ACA meant to their own plans it became much more popular and people realized they didn't want it to go away.
Many of the nation's working poor work multiple part time jobs because a convenient way for businesses to save money is to cut hours so they don't have to offer benefits. Hopefully with the improved job market more workers can gain fulltime employment and benefits
*Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell, in an astoundingly telling moment halfway through President Obama's first term, told a reporter what had been the guiding strategy of Republicans in Congress. "The single most important thing we want to achieve," McConnell said, "is for President Obama to be a one-term president.".
**Self-employed Americans and the workers they hired accounted for 44 million jobs in 2014, or 30% of the national workforce

In 1998 Toni Morrison written an article claiming Bill Clinton was the first Black President,
after his presidency he moved his foundation office's to Harlem 125 street ---<<Democrat strategy,<< im like you >> A typical Clinton move that he and his Witch has done thousands of times over the years, "ill give you this and that because" <<im like you>>
The nerve of him and his Wealthy Nigerian partner to hold an event in a multi million dollar Mansion in the poorest City of CT, Id say holding a Beer Fest at an Alcohol anonymous meeting would be the same. Ether you've gone to far to the left or you've disconnected from the American people,....ill say both and that's why you lost the Election Snowflake, unfortunately for the NAACP it was too little and to late.

They kill our children, in our schools, in our churches, when will it stop?
Wednesday’s mass shooting at a high school in Parkland, Florida, that has left at least 17 kids dead is a good time to remember how hollow and vacuous many of our elected officials’ “thoughts and prayers” sentiments are. While the NRA and the Republican Party spend the next many hours discussing mental illness and how the real issue is the mental illness that they are completely unwilling to tackle regardless of how many people die, let’s remember that meaningful gun safety laws could be enacted right now. Those laws haven’t been created because the NRA owns the Republican Party. A few months ago the New York Times put together a list of the senators and congressmen and women who receive the most financial funding from the NRA. Here’s the list:
Sen. John McCain (R-AR) $7,740,521
Sen. Richard Burr (R-NC) $6,986,620
Sen. Roy Blunt (R-MO) $4,551,146
Sen. Thom Tillis (R-NC) $4,418,012
Sen. Cory Gardner (R-CO) $3,879,064
Sen. Marco Rubio (R-FLA) $3,303,355
Sen. Joni Ernst (R-IA) $3,124,273
Sen. Rob Portman (R-OH) $3,061,941
Sen. Todd Young (R-IN) $2,896,732
Sen. Bill Cassidy (R-LA) $2,861,047
Rep. French Hill (R-AR) $1,089,477
Rep. Ken Buck (R-CO) $800,544
Rep. David Young (R-IA) $707,662
Rep. Mike Simpson (R-ID) $385,731
Rep. Greg Gianforte (R-MT) $344,630
Rep. Don Young (R-AK) $245,720
Rep. Lloyd Smucker (R-PA) $221,736
Rep. Bruce Poliquin (R-ME) $201,398
Rep. Pete Sessions (R-TX) $158,111
Rep. Barbara Comstock (R-VA) $137,232

It must be easy for you to get through life.
All you have to do is paint over any issue with a 12 inch brush that labels everyone the same.
We are dealing with complex problems that require an adult approach. Not the reaction of children.
