None of Trump's minions who he wouldn't allow to testify before now have no legal protections (other than their own attorneys). If they fail to appear in front of Congress there are consequences, and even bigger ones if they're caught lying to Congress.

We need to revamp the whole system. Give more low skill workers temporary visas to work here for a few years, then they go back home and to the back of the line. They get screened in their home countries, have to have a confirmed job here, have to check in with authorizes and stay crime free, can't bring family with them and if they have kids here can't use their kid's status for faster citizenship*. That would greatly reduce illegal crossings and people going underground. Many just want to make $ and we have loads of jobs here Americans don't want to do.

Part of the above includes much bigger punishment for employers that employ illegals. Right now they get a wrist slap. Choke off the demand and the supply will adjust.

* I also would like to get rid of birthplace citizenship. We are one of the few countries that have it. You can't be a citizen unless one of your parents is a legal citizen.

You are correct but I'd throw uneducated women in there too. However, they do make up a good % of the GOP and that's the party's problem. Aging white Americans are a rapidly shrinking demographic group. With Trumpers and other racists dominating the narrative it's impossible for the GOP to broaden their reach. Wealthy more educated Americans right now don't want much to do with the party (at least in public). It's one of many reasons McConnell would like a clear break with Trump. It will cost the party in the short run but the party will survive in the long run. His other hope is that pending criminal charges make more Trumpers realize what a con man he is.
