That is a growing issue with schools. Cops getting called for younger and younger kids because school employees are afraid touching a child will result in a lawsuit. A lot of kids are getting arrested too, which means they have police records, for things that a school should be handling. My schools didn't use corporal punishment, but if a kid was smacking teachers you can sure bet a staff member would have "controlled" them until their parent came and picked them up. Of course back then kids were afraid of their parents too :)

remember being tied to my chair (with my own jacket) by my teacher....I remember being spanked by the principle...I don't remember exactly what I did, but I probably deserved it.

I grew up knowing what the word "accountability" meant. I guess maybe i would sue them now so perhaps I can make some money but I think the teacher and principle are both dead by now.

As a teacher, I don't get paid enough to be hit by young kids who cant control themselves. Times are different now. If I lay a hand on a child of any age in the school, I expect to be disciplined, even fired. I guess you want me to just suck it up. Some of these kids are a lot bigger now then they were 20 years ago. I get this was a young girls, but who knows what kids get their hands on these days, guns, knives, etc. Even just being kicked by a young kid can really hurt me. I am not a 25 year old anymore. Parents need to teach their kids how to deal with adversity without getting emotional or physical. Sorry, not sorry, but it isnt my job to teach them that, it is yours.
