That person was replying to me , not you. How rude !

For the record you have so much idle time to post here that you can’t be posting as a “professional” yourself

So lets talk facts. Fact, teachers are overpaid:

Teaching should be one of the highest paid positions that exists in this country. You want the best? Pay them the most.

In CT we pay our teachers well and it shows in student performance measures. Same with many other blue states that value education. But teachers in many other states aren't so fortunate. Read some of these stories from OK

Needless to say OK doesn't do well on student performance measures. Same with a lot of other states. When companies are considering setting up new operations they have to consider the quality of local workers vs what companies need. Amazon certainly never considered OK for their new HQ. But there's plenty of meat processing plants in OK paying $12 an hour for grueling work.

Talking about a teacher who also is an Uber driver

"What does it mean when we live in a society when those who are trusted to take care of our future professionals are a part of our newly minted working poor? What does it mean when our fellow citizens believe that a teacher having a second job is a great idea? A teacher is the most important part of any school and undermining her financially is not allowing her to do her best work. And, her work matters deeply as she prepares her students to participate in our communities and in our shared civic life."

Or this Teacher of the Year:

In a recent interview with Tulsa World, Richard Patterson, a teacher in Oklahoma, said he was reluctant to advocate for the change in legislation because it felt uncomfortable to ask for a raise for himself. He will continue to teach high school students and at the same time he will work at Walmart. Shawn Sheehan is Oklahoma’s 2016 Teacher of the Year. He earns $35,419. He recently told a non-profit education news organization, “As a 31-year-old adult with his master’s… I don’t want to keep doing this perpetual struggle until I’m 60.”

                        Back to Trump...

"We're building a wall in COLORADO" I guess that "great" education he got didn't include geography.

Here’s the problem with this kind of thinking. Right now MA ranks #1 in math and science and by 8th grade students in Shanghai outperform MA students in math by 2 grade years.

So while we, in blue states, pat our backs that we are doing better than some states, we should keep an eye on the big ball.

A new book written by a former top aide to ex-Defense Secretary James Mattis reportedly claims that the retired general said privately he'd "rather swallow acid" than watch the massive Fourth of July military parade that President Trump wanted.

Absolutely that is true. Internationally we are still well behind much of the world. But we can't improve as a nation when educational quality is so unequal based on where you live. ALL US children should be receiving a quality education regardless of where they live or how much money their parents make.
