PSU football doctor: 30-35 percent of COVID-19-positive Big Ten athletes had myocarditis

Maybe not a good idea for 300lb guys with pads to be running around with Covid & myocarditis???

and yet we get a big contradiction from other schools as well

Sounds like penn state is cooking the books.

Report: Multiple B1G schools say they’re ‘not experiencing’ high levels of myocarditis among student-athletes who test positive for COVID-19

Sounds like penn state is cooking the books? Can’t find details about their claims. Seems fishy

How convenient, a day before the vote to re-start the season. For what it's worth, SEC has been testing for Myo since August 21, and no reported issues at all, from 14 schools. I'm sorry but something's up with Penn State's study.

This surprises you? Think colleges will be honest? Let’s see. Scandal about colleges and sexual assaults everywhere being covered up. Scandal about fake players for admission, scandal for kickbacks from Adidas, etc, etc. Yet you think they will report heart damage that will most certainly cost there college 10s of millions of dollars :)

Yes except players, particularly top players, will seek outside medical advice if concerned and if that contradicts the school’s doctors?
That would be much bigger issue and much bigger expense
Colleges would not take the risk to play in my opinion
Can’t try to cover up the heart issue, that is crazy.
Not to mention other sports leagues that have already started are not reporting issues including NFL who would have bigger issues because the players are older.
So this is just a bunch of crap.

Unfortunately, it is deja vu all over again. I last tossed down the physician's RED FLAG & cried FOUL on this #COVID19 #myocarditis issue on August 11th and now forced to do it again. There is no way that 30-35% of #Athletes with COVID19 have myocarditis.

Given the potential seriousness I would hope families would seek another opinion. Easy to verify. Yes schools make stuff up but think about the blowback if Penn was caught lying about this. Doesn't make any sense. Of they have a really sh itty medical team? That's also possible.

so a Doctor throws the BS flag on a study, and all you can do is attack him personally?
he has letters after his name because he has the requisite knowledge to make an informed decision- you dont
so either prove him wrong or STFU because you have no idea either way

Here is some clarification from Penn State.

"Dr. Sebastianelli wishes to clarify this point, and apologize for any confusion."

Here is what is wrong with Americans
Fool reads headlines, fool assume it to be the truth handed down from God
Fool never checks for validation from other sources
Fool uses headline as fact no matter how many times it is refuted

Headlines cause huge damage to society because of the above

It is easy to convince someone of a hoax
It is impossible to convince them they were fooled

                            CIAC cancels 11 v 11 football

                            From the press release:

Without DPH support, the CIAC cannot move forward with a full contact season as it would place superintendents and boards of education in the impossible position of acting against the recommendation of a state agency. The CIAC, in alignment with DPH guidance, will now work with its dedicated athletic directors and football coaches to provide football players with the best low and moderate risk experiences possible.

With no chance of football now with this be the end of all sports in the fall. The largest contingent of voices to encourage sports in the fall has always been football. Losing this support other sports are now in serious jeapordy.

Not really. The DPH has been quite clear from the start, they didn’t support football or girls vollleyball as they are deemed high risk. DPH has had no issues with any other fall sport.
