Agreed. OW has a player centric development approach, whereas CFC just wants to process players through their factory and keep the parents generally happy and drama free.

Yes. Through college. And my husband was a D1 athlete in another sport. Not sure how that matters when it comes to my post stating that by 15 or 16, girls are generally at their adult height and any difference in strength and speed is based on genetics and training habits, not age.

But keep up with the “must have never played the game” thing.

Whereas they might get comfortable and complacent against younger teams, playing on an older team will bring a variety of new challenges to push them to get better.
It’s the same thought process for deciding whether or not to switch teams when your kid is dominating in a lower division. The biggest difference is that moving up a division will lead to more skilled competition, but moving up an age group will bring more skilled players and also larger and faster competition as well.
It has nothing to do with the age. It has to do with the team. CFC doesn’t have players play up because most of their teams at United are strong. Sometimes the younger teams are better than the older ones. To play up just so you can say you play up is silly. Focus on the quality of the team and competition. OW kids generally need to play up to get challenged bc their teams are weak. That isn’t the case at CFC. If you’re looking to see who has had more success on both the team and individual level, it’s not even close. Team wise, CFC is stronger in nearly every age group. Individually, CFC has kids playing in D1 college programs, the US pro league, and the past World Cup. OW has kids playing up on their U15 team. Cool.

Yes. CFC is team focused, whereas at other clubs its about maximizing individual player development.

Ah, an OW person where we equate on the field prowess with the number of times they can juggle a ball. Welcome to the big leagues.

For two or three players in each gender, all age groups .... Yes, I agree, that is definitely the OW strategy. Easier to be one of those chosen kids if your dad applied for a staff position at OW and wears one of their warm up jackets while running your practice.

Clubs will play someone up if

                      1) the player will bring something to the older team. This is rarely the case. Being the top player on an age appropriate team doesn't mean you'll be a top contributor on an older team.
If you're interchangeable with most of the roster then no playing up

                      2) The club thinks it won't cause a flood of other requests and hurt feelings. This almost never happens.

                      3) They don't have enough players to fill rosters

either you have touch or you don't. The FCIAC is a really good example of athletes without touch. Touch elevates game, not lumbering
