I had the benefit of playing high school sports and had the joy of watching two daughters enjoy it as well. The friendships, accolades, newspaper articles etc are things they'll remember forever. Both kids recruited through their club team but club sports are not the same as playing for your town and school.

Look at the trouble Oakwood is having fielding a single U17 team during prime recruiting time. It might suggest that the majority share this opinion.

Kids don't make these decisions, it's the egos of the parents that drive these choices.
Yes, I played 3 sports for most of HS and one in college.

I had 2 players on my HS hockey team leave to go play Juniors. Three more left our public HS to play in privates to position themselves better for college. I stopped playing baseball after my sophomore year and only played Legion.

None of this is unusual. Of the friends who moved away, some I remain friends with. Some of my old HS teammates I remain friends with. Some of my club hockey friends remain. Those I am most close to, however, I didn't play any sports with other than when we were really young.

I enjoyed my time playing HS sports. But, they were my memories. Hard to say what I would've done in today's environment. I am sure I would not have played 3 HS sports though. I likely would've played one, but if I specialized (which I should have) in 1-2 I could easily see bypassing it. But, again, hard to say since everyone is different.

I can offer my advice to her, that's all can do. If she wants to choose her own path, I will support it and not try to convince her otherwise.

Ok captain obvious. You know in sports, including soccer, and in America, you can outplay an opponent and still lose.

Once. If 0 for 2 Captain obvious, then the other team is simply better and it does not matter how they play. They stopped you more than you stopped them .... Again, not once, but twice.

Hey Uncle Rico, I bet you can kick a soccer ball a qtr. mile. Too bad they haven't invented time travel yet. You could go back. You'd definitely win States.

            Loser...…..

OK, let me translate. You are a poor loser .... but a loser nonetheless and your kid plays on a weak team, but keep sending in those enormous checks. She is going to keep Endicott's bench nice and toasty in a few years. Oh yeah, and in 2020, we need more "SEND IT!".

To be clear, I didn't offer up any information. It was stated "Not the OP but were you ever a high school athlete? Based on your comments I'm guessing that you probably were not" so I replied. And, followed up with some details about how those not playing in for their town HS in particular sports isn't new.

I'm not the ones out here chest-puffing and trying to have my kids relive any past successes. She's encouraged to follow her own path. The anti-Uncle Rico.

Next time, try to follow the bouncing ball, chucklehead.

Incredibly unlikely. OW has lots of non DA teams

Matt Cameron has that special kind of class where he thinks scoring 30 goals on a travel team two years younger is awesome. Just gives him all that warm and fuzzy's

And I highly doubt the kids playing DA are doing it because their parents are making them. And to be honest, you have no idea if that's a true statement or not. Just let it go. Is it a shame they can't do both? Yes. It's only a couple of months away from DA. It would be great if they could do both.
Why chose between club and HS, when you can have the best of both? Play for a state title in front of a large crowd, get on TV in the papers, party with your teammates, make all star teams, then when it’s over, spend the rest of the year playing with and against future D1 talent. It’s called CFCU. Check it out.
