Spoken like a true parent with limited knowledge of the progression of an athlete. Let me be very clear about something.

Training matters most.

Game play matters equal at U-15 or higher

This is not debatable

OK Papi, then why go to OW if training matters? Do games and opponent strength matter? Again, then why go to OW or GAL? GAL is trash as is OW training. If you think high level players are built in 3 nights a week in a pay-to-play model as DA or GAL are currently set up, you are nuts! Those kids will find it anywhere ... on the pitch or in a ditch .... in a school or with a fool .... do you know who i am, sam i am?! If your kid needs someone to be special, they arent.

No doubt some HS is bad, some HS coaches awful. But some of it is decent and there are many HS coaches that are club coaches and are solid. No right or wrong answer, all situational.

Same is true at every level .... especially DA, GAL, OW. OW U-little coaches are putrid .... why they replace 80% of them at u13 and u14. Not much better at U15 and U16 but their new players came in with goods.

go watch an 04 / 05 ow training session. you don't see anything anywhere close to that from any HS team in the state of CT.

My kid's HS coach was a pro player. Go figure.

what's it getting them? Kids are all going to the same schools that they've gone to for the last decade.

Were most of the Oakwood parents in the Marching band? How could you not understand the merits of playing for your high school?

Listen, I get it if your kid plays on a Class S team that is very poor. Some of the players could be playing for a state title in front of their entire school. Giving that up to prepare for Endicott and Roger Williams?

Regrettable move on every level.

It's a shame seeing the OW players in our stands watching their HS teams play ... they are dying to be out there too and could definitely help our team ... most of them have been sold a bill of goods (by OW and by their own parents!).

At this point it’s stubborn parents, no one wants to reverse course and admit they are wrong. You don’t need Oakwood to play at Bryant or some of these other schools.

In the end, it’s the kids that lose. Period

There are always a few kids who roster later, after high school is done. Public high school. I know of a few right now who are doing it.

Very true. That was always an issue with BDA/GDA and OW did it a lot. Needless to say the other players who did give up HS weren't always appreciative of the move

Man what a difference a few weeks makes. Last time you came off your perch and had so much to say in front of all of the SSS parents you knew we could hear you. How good Oakwood was and how we at SSS must have lost all the good players we had. Well looks like our bad players just kicked your *****. Before the game I asked who your kid was cause I wanted to see for myself. Lets just say she does not play much and when she does she is on the ground or forget it I will be nice. Make sure next time you talk ***** your team can back it up. FYI it was a great ride home. Enjoy your weekend and please work on that Maradona and tell the poor kid never do it in your defensive zone or other team will score like we did.
