Crap on that all you want, but if it wasn't happening there never would have been all this angst over giving it up.
If you don't want to play HS you don't have to. No one is being forced to play.
Well I'm glad you are enjoying the experience. For our family its been awful. My kids go to a school that consistently wins about 4 games a year. The varsity roster has 2 to 3 kids that play club. Some don't even play town travel. My oldest daughter suffered a strained hamstring her junior year and had to go through hours of PT to heal. In her senior year, she felt tightness and told the coach she couldn't go back into a game. The coach told her she had to and when my daughter refused, she was subsequently benched for the rest of the year. My other daughter, after watching the other team take the opening kick down the field, while literally dribbling around 5 different kids and scoring, called out the teams effort. For this she was suspended for a game. And because she had called out the most popular kid on the team, the other girls then ostracized her the rest of the year to the point where the refused to pass her the ball - as she was playing CM. And finally my son who was a freshman GK was pulled aside by the varsity coach and was told that he was by far the most talented GK he had but he wasn't going to put him on varsity because it would upset some of the seniors.
HS soccer can be about what you wrote. It can also be incredibly ugly.

Plus those who drive on their own.
