You are talking about 13 year old girls. How crazy is that?
And this talk like CFC is now the bastion of CT soccer just because OW got a DA slap-down is ridiculous. If Mia Hamm was on the OW U14 team, she's no less Mia Hamm without the badge. That goes for CFC or FSA and ECNL. Mia Hamm is still Mia Hamm if she is playing CCSL or CJSA for that matter. This is going to come down to who does the hard work when no one is looking, not when they are playing ECNL, or NPL or EDP, or PDP or ODP, or whatever acronym you want to throw on it...…
All these clubs I'm sure have their own selling points and so do their leagues.
Find an environment that suits you INDIVIDUALLY and go with it full force. Own your decision, it's yours. Not some random poster on TS who obviously has an agenda and some sort of mental issue.....
If the collapse of the DA has taught anyone anything, its that you need to take your destiny in your own hands. Don't let anyone tell you they have the "pathway." It's up to you individually as a player to achieve your goals.

CFCU will add 2-5 OW kids at every age group next Fall, maybe even more as they will spread them across ECNL 1, ECNL 2, ECNL Composite and even some regional branches. CFC can provide access to all ECNL 1 & 2 showcases and other top regional tournaments for recruiting, very important. Who else in CT besides FSA on the girls side can consistently provide this? OW parents you have absolutely no leverage, let me repeat, you have no leverage. If your kid was a top 5 player on their OW team than they will probably play on ECNL 1 team next Fall, they will have to compete, I'm sure many will start and a few will make an impact. None will play up, mostly likely have to earn their way on to DC's academy team over time. CFCU will also take players from NYSC GDA too, those kids are just as close to Bethany as OW. CFC will add players ($) and make their teams better. CFCU current players 15-24 on each roster, you will be relegated to more bench time or asked to move down a level. Parents that complain (except for parents of top 5 players on each team) will be moved out, aside or just ignored. Competition is good for teams, makes the good ones work harder, guess you find out a lot about your kid. Parents not in control and when you tell TP or MM how good they are they roll their eyes. Prove it.

I can think of four recent players that joined CFCU from OW, ironically because of the academy. None superstars but all going onto college soccer. Two at D1, one at D2 and another D3.
The competition aspect is something that shouldn't be overlooked here. Parents like to gripe about roster size at CFC but take a minute to google the average roster sizes at local colleges. Most are the high 20s. That means some kids don't dress or travel. Competing for spots at 15 and 16 years old either breaks players or gives them a mental toughness that will be invaluable for the rest of their soccer days.
And yes, playing up is done. The best players in the region are in the ECNL and unless a team has a shortfall, it's age appropriate play.

You people need to come up with a hobby during this quarantine. Renovate a room, bake, build a soccer field in your back yard, just something.
