Having been through this with a few kids, I don’t buy the whole “soccer snob”’ frustrated thing. There are multiple kids around this state going into D1 college programs next year that are enjoying the hell out of HS soccer. While it may not always be the beautiful game, they are learning to be leaders, competing in front of their classmates and creating lifelong memories.
The best players in CT for the class of 2020 all play on high school soccer teams

Some kids are stuck playing on a HS team that is always a poor performer. For those kids used to winning on a club team and then struggling on a HS team it can be frustrating for sure. Additionally, many of these smaller towns are stuck with coaches who honestly know very little about the game. I believe they sometimes feel threatened by the kids who do really know the game and can actually be harder on those kids. In those towns they are not under pressure to win and would rather maintain the status quo.
With all that said, playing high school provides experiences that club just can't match, especially on the social side of it. In my estimation, that is why ECNL will continue to stay a step ahead of DA.

Wow these boards are brutal, agree with the poster. Small town HS where coach has never played soccer and all 20 varsity kids get equal playing time, makes for not so much fun for most. Probably why HS soccer is NOT enjoyable for all

High school works for some; not for all. But if you want to choose a DA program; OW is NOT the place.
