FSA only got the badge because they bought the debt the young Anthony D created. Soccer plus only got the badge because Tony D was in charge not because they were good.

Beachside only got the badge because OSU th Central was so bad the federation made theM merge into BSC(Beachside/South Central) but Nicky tuned it into Beachside SC quick. Ran a once good program into the ground. Good job 👍

Best coach in program is BQ, a SC alum.

          Just the truth

Can anyone tell me if all this chatter about Beachside is true or what the real story is. My family just moved to Fairfield County from the UK and we're looking for a place for my son to play football. Beachside is the closest, but it looks like there are a lot of issues there. Can anyone help me out with some local information. Thank you, its most appreciated.

Welcome to America ..... there are problems in youth sports the world over and we are no different here .... especially in Fairfield County. Call them and have your kid go and work out with them a few times. Do the same at CFC ECNL and any NYC clubs you think you cold stand the commute to. The first thing you should know is that nothing you hear from anyone (here on TS or in person) is credible. If you do your own work to find out these things, you will make the right decision:

1.) How many practices are there each week in the Spring/Fall and in the winter and how long is each practice?
2.) What leagues do they play in?
3.) Do they play indoor in winter and how many sessions?
4.) How many tournaments do they participate in and which ones?
5.) What is the cost for the entire year including the kit?
6.) Is it possible to commute to this club 4-5x/week from where you live? It's always possible, but are you willing to do it when you factor in traffic is the better question.
7.) Is my kids skill level about right for this team? "about right" right for me means a solid starter. Not the absolute best player (look for a stronger team) and not outside of the top half of the team. Would also help if you pop in on some of their games to see that they play the way the practice and that the coach and team didn't pull one over on you in a practice or two.
8.) How well did the coach run the practice? Did he interact well with his players? Did you see him offering help to the players and correcting mistakes? Did he joke around too much or not pay attention (was he there only for a paycheck or to make the individual players and team better)?
9.) Talk to other parents if they are there and see what their impressions are about the team, the coach, and the club.

I think if you answer these questions for 4 or 5 clubs that you visit, you will have learned a lot about each and will feel comfortable making your decision.

Here are the pros and cons

              Pros
              Fairfield County's only Developmental Academy
              Long club history
              Good playing style
              Traditionally good college placement
              Good coaches
              Good college connections

              Cons
No owned facilities, facilities spread out in county
Club is carried by owners drive and vision
              Expensive
              Limited Success in Academy
              Extensive fund raising expectations
Loses good players to NYCFC and other academies over NY border
Limited girls side and non boys academy

There are other Academies across NY border that would be similar commutes. NYCFC which is affiliated with MLS team. NYSC is another Westchester based Academy

How old is your son? How do you know that Beachside is “closest”? They don’t really have a home base per se. what town are you in?

Good point. They have fields all over and it changes often.

At that age, they split Beachside into North and South branches

South trains in stamford, north in stratford. Stamford would be closer but it's still a haul

                      Other options include

AC CT in Danbury or Newtown
                      Everton America in Norwalk

8?! Do whatever is closest for now .... AC CT would be perfect.

Do yourself a favor, take him back to England there is no such thing as Football in Connecticut.
More importantly they don’t know how to play soccer at Beachside, So Take my advice—your kid will hate you if you make him suffer the many years at BSC.

                          Good luck.

At that age stick to something close like AC. The travel gets absurd as they get older so try to avoid burnout. Weather can play a role too as you are learning this week. As he gets older then you can start worrying about what league he's in and all that nonsense. Find a local club with solid coaching and maybe do some clinics or camps to supplement.

Poster— you see? That’s a typical Beachside parent response.
