I don’t know why that is - I can only guess. You have some of CT’s top offensive players but you squander that by not putting kids actually fit to play defense in defensive positions. I cannot explain this - it’s very obvious who can play and who cannot. Most parents I’ve spoken too can see this too. You can argue you know what you are doing all you want but your teams are scoring goals but getting outscored. Again kind of obvious that you need to pay more attention to defense, but you don’t even know where to start. Problem three is the small field size and multiple scheduled teams on each field limits how teams can practice using the space via various passing drills and patterns. Please build the third field or rent additional fields. Problem four is that most coaches at Oakwood couldn’t coach possession football if they tried. You play a direct style of play from the 90’s. It’s hard to watch. The other teams are controlling the tempo of the game and the scoreline gets away from you. Problem 5 is you simply have too many kids playing up who do not belong there. Maybe for a moment they did, but you and them hang on way too long. It creates an undercurrent on each team and at U13-14 you lose all your best players because you never built anything for them to believe in and you spent the last few years making sacrifices to keep a few kids playing up that should have been managed back down to Earth years prior. Each year creates an impossible sense of entitlement that leaks on to the field in every play. Problem 6 the coaches never promote teamwork. Individual efforts are praised so more individual efforts are given regardless of negative outcomes on the field.

How’s that for building a bridge. I’d be happy to do open heart surgery on this club. I’d make everyone try out again this winter and omit the current staff from selection including the NJ crew who appears to also be clueless. Bring in NE Revs for an independent evaluation.

Words? If I posted xG stats you wouldn’t believe me or even understand, happy to take your old job, but also happier to just create a club and put you losers to shame. People want a better product. They are educated consumers now unlike my parents were 30 years ago.

Close but incorrect - it’s $3575. $3500 is just to dance in the corner with a sprite in your hand.

Today’s parents have a lot more knowledge of the game than coaches like to think. You’re not infallible because you have a job at the club. There are parents in the sidelines you are just as knowledgeable- and some more so - than the guy or gal getting paid by the club. Do the parents know firsthand all the issues of the team? Maybe not and they certainly don’t see the politics from inside the club which we ALL knows plays a huge role in rosters and other decisions etc…but they see strategy, formation, inability to adjust to the game, patterns, and more than you think .

Yes! I know I do. I even see the politics very clearly in many cases, though I do not understand the origin of it. What I do know is that when you give someone an unnecessary boost you are robbing them of the most important experience - failure. Failure drives us us to personally improve. Over a longer time horizon, what incentive does a player have to improve if their role feels safe and protected? Please take the winter to think this over and emerge for spring with the real team rosters please. Enough of this senseless decision making.

This^^ put the talented kids out there that have put the time in. 100% BUT then the pay to play model crumbles with the thin skinned CT parent who writes checks. Kids quit these days when faced with limited playing time. Kids don't work thru failure with All those soft parents.

As with everything, it's a balancing act. Yes, healthy competition can be a good motivator. But this is not pro-level stuff (for 99.99999% of these clubs), so the kids don't need to feel constantly insecure and desperate. That's a lot for a teenager, and to what end.

No one will miss a player who doesn’t play much. Next man up if you lose them. If we don’t play our best players together so they can be successful, then they will leave. What’s worse for the long term health of the club losing the best players or losing those on your bench?
