Most college coaches will walk away from players like that. Its not worth the trouble. Remember, this is how that coach supports his family, no way they will put that at jeopardy for some a@@hole kid

Right. Colleges do not develop and sell players. Dortmund is willing to deal with occasional petulance from Haaland because he's one of the best under 21s in the world, he's their key for winning bundesliga games and making UCL and they will make a hundred million $$ when they sell him to Real Madrid or whoever. Joe College Coach is just trying to beat whatever school is down the road in glorified HS level ball.

The kid reported about on TS by some douche parent that claims he knows what transpired and what the coaches thought? Of course no bad behavior isn't tolerated in college soccer, especially at a quality school with dozens vying for spots. But dial back the believability factor here. Its TS and lots of people have personal agendas

They are weak for boys now too ….. just a shell of what they were 5+ years ago.

It's become even more important to play at an MLS club vs the B league OW and BS are in - if you have the skills and not many CT players do. So then you ask yourself if the cost and travel and giving up HS is worth getting at spot at Endicott.

Except for the fact that it’s not reasonable for a 12 year old to travel from central CT to Gillette or NYC. Even less talent available in the north eastern periphery of CT. Probably easier for southern CT to journey to NYCFC or Red Bull, but are they really going to beat out 32 kids from greater NYC/NJ in their age group. Probably not. The doesn’t really work well because there too much geographic separation between MLS teams

Twelve years old don't need to then. By15-16, yes if a family can make it work. Its been done but few CT players are even good enough to make the squads.

Friend by that time the line up is solidified. One or more years of a team playing academy is going to be very hard to keep pace with. You and I both know politics weeds out equivalent players and favors proven incumbents. Is there an exception to move into a bench spot on a blue moon once and a while - sure. But the game is already over by U15. That’s not a US or soccer thing either - it’s true in elite basketball and soccer outside the US. Until the geographic divide is solved the US will never win a World Cup on the men’s side (maybe even women’s now that the world caught up). We are only effectively using maybe a 1/10 of the eligible players with a MLS only academy model. I’m not an Oakwood fan, but teams like that need to be positioned on equal footing. Let the actual coaching and development determine what happens next.

Lol do you work for OW or BS? If your kid has the skills there's a place for them, although I would recommend by u14-15. Don't buy the club bull crap that you need to be there from ulittle. Most rosters have big turnover between U12 to u16.

At top clubs, the lineup is never really solidified. They are always looking for new talent. Just be realistic of whether your kid is walking in and having an impact or not.

mogie sucks as a coach. going to lose more players because of him.

95 or more percent of the kids playing club are not elite and never will be. You can’t train someone into being elite. Those kids need to be trained yea but they are born with elite skills. The rest are just paying 3k to play travel soccer and hopefully have fun. That is reality. Same in every sport. Soccer’s issue in the USA is the starting pool is small. It is limited to wealthy suburbs kids and that pool is too small to really compete on the world stage for the boys
