Some players need some verbal motivation . I don't mean a negative tearing down or embarassing a player. It's the form of motivation that makes a player play her heart out to the very last whistle. A player will not respect a coach that screams, yells or embarasses. That will cause many a player to ignore the coach & basically have I don't care attitude. Players need to respect their coach & a coach needs to respect her players. Not try to be just friends & be afraid to hurt someone's feelings.

Re: High School Soccer Coaches
[quote=Directors? Coaches should not "direct" players during a game. That's when they are learning how to react to unique situations that occur and how to react to their own mistakes. Yes, it's hard to believe, but soccer players will make mistakes, even the good ones. Berating them to the point of distraction will never allow them to learn from those mistakes.[/quote]
