So over $2000 in fees to play in the Delco Tournament this weekend?

So for U15+ team, it was $1400 to sign up, and then another $600 in parking fees that they just sprung on us?!?!? We play Sat/Sun/Mon and they are charging $10/car/day. We have 18 players, 2 coaches, so that is 60 $10 fees over the 3 days.

Guess it is the last time any teams from our club is going to this money grab (more than most money grabs).

Sure Delco will just say it is not them and is the people that own the fields and blah blah blah. But the email sent out talked about the place upgrading their field and such. Isnt that what the $1400 is for? $400 in ref fees, some insurance, what else?

When did Delco know about this? It HAD to be in their contract. Never been to a place where they made us pay for parking. Wonder if Delco teams have to pay for parking

Soccer has finally caught up to AAU basketball where they charge for you to come in and watch your kid play in a tournament you paid for your kid to be in. greed everywhere

Charging for parking is a means to control the limited parking spaces.

I'd almost rather rent a bus to take us to and from the game and have it wait in the IKEA parking lot during games.

A bunch of places charge now. Youth sport greed will eventually collapse on itself.

yea, but their email said the fee was to cover adding 300 new spots. It's a money grab

So the complex has ~18 fields. Just say 30 people between the 2 teams per field (some are 9v9, some 11v11, some 7v7). games every 2 hours from 8am to 8pm. People probably average 1.5 games/team a day (some younger will play 2/day, some will play older 1). $10/car. That's like $25K-$30K a day. CRA-ZEE!!

so when do we put the foot down on how much these tournaments cost? $1400-1475 for one tournament? it's highway robbery! no wonder everyone's fees goes up and up, the greed is unbearable. the profit margin for all this has gotta be so high

Should have signed up for PDA tournament instead. Granted no parking for some and you could need a shuttle but you don't have to pay extra for it-lol

Just don't pay the parking. They have no authority to tow you and can only ticket. They have no legal way to enforce you pay the ticket afterward.

$1400 a team/3 games min---$466 per team per game. So $932 to rent the field and cover ref fees for 1 and half hours. $$$$$$$$...

let's say minus out $225 for 3 refs and $150 for 1.5 field rental. $932 minus $225 refs minus $150 field equals $557 profit per game. Subtract overhead. Still a lot of money

Did they charge to park at the proving grounds?

Tale as old as time... Tournaments are about making money.

AAU is a straight up money grab, at least in soccer you need to be accredited by a state association. In AUU anyone can start a team and take your money. Wait til they make you buy a block of hotel rooms regardless if you use them or not ( standard AAU practice).

Soccer (Currently) is cheap compared to baseball/basketball.

Ridiculous and a money grab and a reason not to support ANY FCDelco tournaments. Parents can talk with their coaches now as they plan their Fall and Spring calendars to let them know that tournaments like this that cost a lot AND charge a parking fee will not be welcome as competitions by the parents. It's not a demand and pushy but something the coach should consider when making those choices. Yes I know some coaches are told by their clubs which tourneys to attend but that's few and far between and ALWAYS negotiable. Remember the reason they are assigned those tournaments from their club is that there's a financial incentive/rebate for the club to send x # of teams which typically saves the teams from that club money which is a good thing but not when the parking fees are added.

Also from being a tournament director in the area for a while this parking fee was known by the club, in this case FCDelco, at the time they organized this tournament as it would have been FREQUENTLY discussed and certainly part of any contract. They are absolutely keeping that money and it is NOT part of the Proving Grounds costs as they do not charge parking nor collect money from tournaments for parking. Call them and ask. Their # is on their website.
