When the U17 team starts the spring 1-4 they’ll need all the positive news they can manufacture.

You realize the other MLS DA teams do the same thing. They have signed pro players who still play in DA games.

I was just looking at ZH's stats and over that past FOUR years since signing as a homegrown; he's played just 10 games with the Revs (5 of which he was subbed in with less than 5 minutes of playing time). He played 5 games on loan with USL San Antonio and is now on loan with Heaps and Soehn in Birmingham. Just seems like a lot of time gone by with very little playing time, so I'm not sure how they think he's supposed to be developing. Hopefully, things will turn around for him this year, but you wonder whether he would have developed more playing at Providence, at least for a couple of years.

It'll be interesting to see if these new homegrowns will do any better, but I'm not optimistic about it if the Revs aren't willing to give them significant first team minutes right away. If they aren't, they should loan them out now to a USL team that will actually play them so they aren't languishing away on the bench. Scotty played 29 games the year he signed his HG contract. Diego played in just 6 games his first year, but was only 15 yrs old, and by the second season, he played 20 games. Huge difference from the way they are "developing" ZH. IA was injured most of last year, so we'll have to see if he fares better this year.
Have the Revs ever started an homegrown?

The same ole story. Get rid of players and replace them with high school studs. JM and JA were the Rev stars a few years back and now....

This does not happen at other academies.

Bolts 17s now have some forward strength, which will still be there next fall. Bolts played an even game with the Revs in the fall without any forwards, and with an equally young team. Most players on the Revs and Bolts are sophomores, with only a couple of juniors on each team, so thiers no argument involving age. Agree with the OP. Why is the talent split among the 2 academies, and arguably GPS to some degree? Surely the Revs should be able to identify and attract the best players in the area like other MLS academies. Clearly the free aspect is not enough for many families. The Bolts are generous with scholarships, which helps several excellent players. Coaching is better with the Bolts on average I’m guessing. Maybe it’s because the Revs don’t really care about every player, given that they are looking for the 1 or 2 who might be 1st team potential. Knowing that is one thing. Feeling it and experiencing it is another.
In this U17 age group, everyone knows that the strongest players have been at Bolts, GPS and a few at NEFC for years. All three allow kids to play HS (Bolts via waivers), have multiple ISL players (do Revs have any?), and all three work with families to make it work financially. As a result, few have been interested in Revs--everyone knows their system and coaching is a mess, that the organization is an overall disaster, and that their college matriculations are not strong. The real question is why anyone outside of greater Foxboro would bother with them.

Not playing HS kickball is one of the best things about the Revs.

I don't know about hilarious but it is certainly strange that until today they were listed as 'non-rostered' in the Montreal game report. So the question was legit. And it also tells you that a jealous U19 parent most likely made the post about them playing.

How was JM bullied? I thought he was a chosen one.

Everyone knows PO plays favorites and trashes the others. Makes Momma happy, but the boys are going nuts.

For anyone keeping score, MOntreal had 8 national team players start against the U17s. We only saw the latter part of the first half but that team was on par with a real European academy. FOr the Bolts crows, they played a totally different lineup the day before.

Stick to facts and halt the gossip mongers.

Kids who were big and physical early but didn't grow or advance their technique are now shocked. Get over it. Bullied? puh-leez. Favored and seeking favoritism, yes. Didn't they sign up to host a kid to stay on the team?

The Revs U17’s have four or five NT players.

Beachside will beat us this week and then 2 weeks later. Will it be their NT players that beat us?
