Lavelle, Sonnett, Dunn, Davidson: How Gotham’s lineup could look in 2024

What does a team with ample attacking talent that just won the National Women’s Soccer League championship need? Four United States women’s national team players, apparently.

NJ/NY Gotham FC executed a coup on the NWSL free-agency market, landing four of the biggest names on the list this offseason: Crystal Dunn, Tierna Davidson, Rose Lavelle and Emily Sonnett. How general manager Yael Averbuch West made that happen within even the expanded, $2.75 million salary cap for 2024 is a great mystery that The Equalizer’s Jenna Tonelli helped explain.

Now, what does all this mean for the team on the field? On paper, Gotham added strength on strength.
