Which players will change the 2023 Women’s World Cup?

What form is a player in? How important is their tactical role? How unique are they to their team? All of this can define a player’s performance in a major international tournament.

Here, we have put together a list of 10 players that could change the course of the 2023 Women’s World Cup. They aren’t necessarily all the ‘best’ players, but they are the ones who could have a significant impact on their team’s chances of success.

    Filippa Angeldahl (Sweden)

This version of Sweden feels like a team in-between eras. After the disappointing semi-final exit to England at last year’s EURO, they have tried new systems and new players, looking for a fresh angle before the World Cup. And, with the 38-year-old Caroline Seger unlikely to play at the same level or consistency, Angeldahl could take on new responsibility in midfield. A fine playmaker with an accurate shot from long range, the 26-year-old broke into Manchester City’s line-up towards the end of last season and could provide Sweden with a crucial creative spark.
