Thoughts on the Snohomish Bigfoot tourney that just concluded. Worst tournament ever IMO. Refs were atrocious. Field conditions even worse.

Bigfoot is fantastic. Bonus is you can camp or RV around the field. Think of it as a family camping trip with some soccer play.
This is surf cup or ECNL national. Have some fun in youth soccer pls.

They have several national and regional ref act as mentor, watch games and provide feedback to refs on the field. They also have continue education hours every evening after free dinner.
Many young refs just got their certificate and start their reffing career. It is a good place for them to develop and gain confidence. Pls give them some time to grow. It is good to no one if they lost interest in continuing ref in one year as many other young refs.
If you see someone act good in the game, pls provide feedback to the ref tent, that is great encouragement for them. Also true if you have complains.

I guess playing on bumpy , sloped (field 4) is acceptable then good for you. This tournament for the top clubs are considered mandatory with the reciprocal agreement between clubs and not the first choice for many teams but are told they have to play in it.
You want best in class, go to crossfire challenge, rainier challenge, surf cup, silverlakes, Dallas Cup or Super Copa.

Hmmm...weird. I know of six different teams that attend (of all different age groups) and heard nothing but positive things about the tournament. Mostly that the teams really bonded getting to camp out with their teammates and how much fun the kids/family members had. Some said they enjoyed it more than Soccer in the Sand (Seaside, OR) and would prefer to go back to Bigfoot next year over spending the money on SITS.
