What did everyone else see for tryout numbers a their club and age. It seemed like there was alot of movement this year. Probably pent up demand over COVID, or we just have a limited view from XF and lots of new kids coming in.

I saw kids from rival clubs show up wearing their old club's training uniform. For heaven's sake, practice a little discretion.
I heard there was a lot of movement at the older ages. Younger ages were stable. Some kids who tried out for ECNL clubs lost their spot at their small club. That just seems spiteful.

Same! Seriously, just wear a blank dri-fit shirt...

Didn’t seem that different than any other year even though there were no tryouts last year. Have heard that groups of Sound players from different ages group tried out at other clubs.

XF tryouts for HS age were very small on the girls side. Not enough showed up to fill the B team at my kids age :(

not sure what xfire highschool age group you are talking about but the girls 03/4 age group has 4 teams with roster sizes from 20-25 for each team. With a few dozen girls not making any team.

Tryouts can happen AFTERWARDS, of course, and many clubs have supplemental tryouts, but this does seem to be a way to discourage club-shopping from families.
A well run club will ban players from wearing club gear (meaning their own, or other youth clubs, not a ManU shirt) at tryouts. But wearing one club's kit to another club's tryout is kinda lame.

Our club said not to wear our own gear, not that it was followed by some kids. It ended up getting covered by the tryout pinnies, but it was definitely some veteran families doing it.

Yes, if you are coming from a competing club, yes you should wear your uniform. Absolutely catches the attention of the coach and sparks conversation.

I remember one group last year having 27 at first, but then down to 15. Now, something
like 22 or so?
Expect player moving down or leaving for another team or sitting on the bench with
little playtime.
