First batch of ECNL/ECNL-R/RCL tryouts are in the books. How did everyone do? I am surprised the forum is so quiet right now. This can be such a stressful time of year with movement and kids going up and down and us parents getting butt hurt over choices.

Seems like this would have been a tough year to change programs at ECNL without the normal open week before tryouts.
My guess is that most kids that changed programs were well known to the new club one way or another. A single day tryout is challenging to show yourself at your best.

Surprised more kids dont tryout for ECNL. Why not check it out? Coaches are always intrigued by shiny and new.

ECNL offers the best consistency of fields, refs, licensed coaches, consistency in schedules, and overall brand recognition.
Iron sharpens Iron, my kids have played both PSPL and ECNL and it wasnt even close. Dont have a daughter, but Reign seems like it has dropped a notch since the SU/EFC pipeline stopped.
Your kid is the most important factor, family support likely next, coach, team, and likely league at the end. But it does contribute.
Can you be Pulisic or Rapinoe and never play ECNL? Sure. But i think you have an overall better chance to succeed within ECNL.

Sticking with your analogy, the question is whether the “prestigious school” the league or the club team that plays in that league? The league offers just one game per week, no? So just 80-90 min per week. Time spent with club team is easily 3x that amount of time. Would it be better for a player to tryout for ANY team playing in ECNL even if the coaching sucks, or choose a non-ECNL team where the coaching/environment/team dynamics are superior?
